I'm working on new boards for a 40k event I'm running next month. Ready for paint is the centerpiece of the new refinery board, Primary Pump Station A1:
Some photos of its construction process are here. More to come as I build more pieces!

Another building in this set done, using a mix of rubbish, scratchbuilding, and 3D printed parts. More photos and some notes here:

Subbed to this. I love me some scratch built terrain projects. Looking great so far, really imaginative stuff on the pumping station.

Made good progress on more of the pieces this evening. Here's the initial layout sketching from earlier today:

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Lovely terrain here!
I see the barrels are 3D printed, but what else too?
Also, seems those squishy fruit stuff caps must have initially be designed by a gamer, as nearly everybody finds a use for them...
Definitely subbing

Thanks all!
I will definitely look through that League list, there are some good linked threads in there.
Viktor, the barrels are actually wood pieces. I bought several bags of these years ago and just throw them everywhere, they're great terrain fillers:
http://www.craftparts.com/158-oil-drums-p-2923.html
http://www.craftparts.com/pickle-barrels-p-2276.html
http://www.craftparts.com/158-pickle-barrels-p-2933.html
I highly recommend every terrain builder just keep a stock of those on hand, they're very cheap and super useful.
The first piece up top actually doesn't have any 3D printed parts. In the second building, all the bright orange pieces and the bright green door keypad are all 3D printed. About half of them I modeled and half I found online. This picture has a good example---a propane tank I found online, a stand I made for it, and a little mechanical box I designed, connected to the tank with a bit of wire and rolled tape to make one end look like a coupler:
There are more photos with closeups of the different pieces in this blog post

oh...these wooden barrels are indeed a great find...and i think likewise ...some stuff is so versatile that keeping stock is always handy!
and very crisp 3D modelling...still a tech totally new and alien to me one of these days^^

Will you let the label stay on that medicine bottle? I bet it will make painting that part a bit...awkward...
But love these two pieces! Btw from what "thing"did you get that round peak?

I'm hoping that the labels on the bottles basically disappear under primer. The minute bump in texture doesn't bother me, and I can't imagine the print will show through after a coat or two.
The main piece of the silo is a booster fuel tank from a broken space shuttle model, cut in half.

Nice work so far, tjkopena. I really like what you're doing here.
I can tell you from experience that yes, the writing on those labels will disappear under the primer and paint, but you'll still be able to see the outline of the label. However, this isn't a problem -- just add rivets and it will look like a bolted on panel of some kind.
Great tip on those barrels, I didn't know those existed. I might have to order a few... dozen.

Another good source of barrels are these Tamiya 1/35 scale kits:
http://amzn.to/1OJr4us
http://amzn.to/1TGMWMG
http://amzn.to/1qFjsTV
They're smaller than the wood barrels above, so they work for different purposes. They come up to a Space Marine's chest so they're roughly "in scale" for 40k, while the wood ones are slightly taller than a marine so they're in " 40k scale" of super-industrial, oversized, mega-equipment. The green cylinder next to the big pipe in the previous set of pictures is one of the Tamiya drums.
The other little jugs, duffle bags, and such in these kits are great too. I've used them on Space Marine Scout speeders, and am going to use a bunch in the next terrain piece of this set.

great tip from a friend on FB in terrianiacs group - soak the labels off in veggie oil (next time obviously). Give 'em a bit and they come right off! It's awesome. I soak all my prescription bottle labels off that way. Takes a long time for those, I think they're really really stuck on good. But once it's ready, it really does peel right off.
Love your applesauce lid turbines I always save those, they're great. As well as the little propeller ones.
Definitely keeping an eye on your blog love scratchbuilds!

That depends on how the labels are printed. Some have printing that is noticeably raised.

Related photo of how I've been keeping my small hobby tools & glues organized lately:
For a long time I kept all my hobby tools and supplies in a rollable stack of drawers next to my desk, in the corner between the desk and the wall. That was super convenient, I could always just reach over and grab whatever I needed. Then we moved, and my in-laws gave us a bigger table they didn’t need anymore, which I quickly appropriated. The result was that my hobby table is freestanding in the middle of my “office” now. It no longer makes sense to have the drawers next to it as they cut off the ability to walk around the table. So I didn’t have a great solution for how to keep my tools organized but still directly at hand.
Then some time recently I grabbed two basket hangers for our bathrooms, but they didn’t really fit in the available wall space where they’d be useful. I said “A-ha!”, again appropriated the goods, screwed them to my desk, and they’ve worked out super well. Just enough space for a bunch of tools and supplies, and keeps everything I use frequently immediately at hand but off the work space itself.

I would guess they'll have the website sorted out in a few days or so at most. That company's been around forever so they're not going anywhere, but the website's definitely aging a bit. First I've seen that problem though.
You can often find those same oil drums at Michael's or similar crafts stores. The Michael's in my area sometimes have bags of 2 oil drums for ~$1.50US.
A few sellers on Amazon have them as well, in bags of 5, 10, and 100:
