So someone was asking for a competitive 500 point Guard list and I threw this together off the top of my head. Anyone have any input on fat to trim?

Tempestor Prime w/ Rod and power sword/maul
2x 8 man Scions w/ 4x plasma and vox
2x Taurox Prime w/ gatling/volleys/stormbolter
6x Ratlings

Ratlings are because I was looking for a 3rd unit to allow 3 units to drop. Vox is there so that you are not force to drop close and can spread out the 18", sometimes helpful in a small game. Power sword/maul was just because I had the points really. No idea which of the two is better anyway.

Pretty sure you can't take 4 plasma in an 8 man squad. It's 2 special weapons per five bodies.

You could do a 10 man squad with 4 plasma and a 5 man with 2 and use the points for a few more Ratlings or maybe even the Commissar that the OP wanted.

Yeh, gotta have 10 bodies for 4 special weapons.

Another option is to take Scions Command Squads. They're 4 models and can all have special weapons. I would feel cheesy running nothing but command squads but they're a great supplemental unit. I run 10 man squads with plasma and 4 man command squads with meltas

500 points. Rearranged to be able to take a vanguard detachment with 3x elite. Was thinking of getting some conscripts and a commissar in by dropping the ratlings. Could take 2x command squad but wouldn't be surprised to see that be FAQed away.
