Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

UK

It's that time again! 2 days to pick the subject for April's round! Your options this month are:

Agents Of Chaos: An assassin bringing down a government with one bullet. A wizard meddling in arcane forces he doesn't understand. A lawless bounty hunter surviving on luck and trickery. A Goblin attempting to saddle a Squig from the wrong end... All of these beings invite chaos and destruction, and your entry should do the same. Whether it's someone having harmless fun or a madman whose plans threaten everything around them, enter a model that embodies madness, anarchy or recklessness.

Law and Order: Essentially the opposite of the previous option, this theme is for those who stand as a bulwark against the madness and put their faith in The Rules, whether they make them or just follow them. From a town guard holding the line against an orc raid to an enforcer for an Underhive gang, from an Imperial Commissar to a particularly Kunnin' Orc Chief exerting ruthless control over his underlings.

Three Colour Maximum: You asked for the Technical Challenges to make a return, so here's one! Your entry should be painted with a limited palette featuring maximum of 3 identifiable colours. Shades/tones are of course allowed within those 3, but on the final model, everything visible should be obvious as variations on the same 3 colours.

Skirmish Warfare: Before battle is joined, another conflict takes place. Saboteurs, scouts, outflanking troops and covert agents seek to strike at the enemy from the shadows and withdraw before the alarm is raised. Your entry should be a model suited to this more subtle warfare, rather than a pitched battle.

I've been itching for an excuse to paint a model entirely in NMM. Three colour maximum seems like the perfect theme for that.

An interesting set of topics. Hard to choose after narrowing it down to AoC/TCM. On balance, I'd struggle to find any models that could truly fit the TCM rules so it'll be Agents of Chaos!

Hmm...I think my vote goes for Law and Order.

I chose 3 color maximum, because Crimson Fists. But any of the others work well, I can just work on my hive gang instead.

I voted for Law and Order because it would dovetail nicely with my plan of painting Dark Angels for a while, but I could probably make something work for any of them.
Agents of Chaos: I've got so many Chaos models even after painting a lot of them for Adepticon, I could easily do something for this.
Law and Order: Like I said earlier, Dark Angels.
Three Color Maximum: I've got various Lesser Daemons that would fit this bill very well. Bloodletters (Red, Black, and Bronze), Plaguebearers (Green, Brown, Black), Pink Horrors (Pink, Gold, Silver), Flamers (Blue, Yellow, Red), would all work okay. I might even be able to do Be'lakor (Black, Gray, Bone) and have him be my entry.
Skirmish Warfare: Tau Vespid Stingwings might work for this, as would some Scouts for my Dark Angels. I could even enter an Assassin or four...

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I'm sure I said I would like to see some technical ones so sticking to my guns I went for the 3 colours.

A Goblin attempting to saddle a Squig from the wrong end...

I'd like to see Zobo do that one in a similar fashion to his primal entry from last year

Dammit...my Shadespire guys last month fit the bill perfectly but I still voted for 3 colour max for the same reason as Midgetgems.

I voted for Agents of Chaos because I have a lot of options that fit, and I like how open it is - not just agents of CHAOS, but you could have anything that creates a bit of anarchy. Maybe a Harlequin? That would fit the bill.

Having said that, I know pretty much exactly what I'd attempt to do for 3 Colour Maximum because I've been wondering for a while if it would be possible - something completely black and white, unblended, no shades of grey just stark black and white. Think Frank Miller's work on Sin City. There's no way I could pull it off, but it would be an interesting experiment. Hopefully if it doesn't win this month it will be back another time.

I was hoping for Law and Order or Skirmish Warfare to win. It seems skirmish gaming isn't that popular here.
Not many chaotic options in my drawer if any.

hmm, tough one...at the moment, I'm going to be a bit busy painting up some more ork stuff for the escalation league my local's running, so my entry might have to somehow work along with that if possible...
nothing immediately springs to mind in that context for either law and order, or skirmish warfare...ehhh...maybe a boss nob for keepin' order among the boyz?...and if I wasn't busy, I'd probably do some necromunda for skirmish...I dunno...
3 colour max does sound like a fun challenge, but I couldn't make that work with my orks, I need at least 4-5 colours there I think...it'd have to be a dedicated piece, and I'm not sure what
...so I went with agents of chaos...as really, that could apply pretty well to anything orky...orks are the most pure force of chaos after all

haha...my eyes did light up at that line in the OP! ...I'm not sure if I've actually got anything suitable left to work with for something like that this time though...at this point, I'll probably be entering some ork bikers or something...but my brain's still chewing on the possibility of something more wacky...we'll see

...it's good to be green!

I guess we know how Dakka stands in the war against Chaos. Bunch of filthy heretics and traitors.

Going to be a short month for me, but I should be able to get some paint on a few WHFB Chaos Marauders. Did the first 4 for “Primal” last year; have 3 left. Need to find where the shields got off to in the move...

Hey, Chaos isn't always about heretic and traitors and daemons and nasty things.

Sometimes it's about bringing the power OF HEAVY METAAAAAAL! to the world

Spoiler:

(Ed from Brütal Legend -> http://klukvaminiatures.com/goods#!/Mighty-Ed/p/100365361/category=0 . Totally gonna be my entry for next month)

Would it count as chaos related to have my librarian dreadnought surrounded and being climbed on by a bunch of gretchin? That's the model I was planning on building this month.

My Imperial Assassins should count as agents of chaos- they cause chaos and confusion when they assassinate key enemy leaders after all!

Why don't you do the technical on one of the other options?

Ive just dusted off the underhive scum and noticed that the moulds were breaking down when they were made, still you wont notice it when they're painted

Because then I'd just be shoehorning what I want into what ended up being voted for.

Well I dont know about other technical challenges but only three colors is not that easy, unless you are painting a space marine.
I dont think I have any miniatures that i would like to paint with only three colors.

But I like colorful miniatures
I like miniatures that have a lot of stuff on them and I like the fact that i can paint a small extra knife or an accessory or whatever with a complete different color than the rest. I mean, have you seen a warrior going to the market to buy a weapon that matches his clothes?

Don't get me wrong, 3 colors maximum can happen and from the poll I see that people here like this idea, but it just doesnt work for me with the way I want to paint miniatures now. Maybe in the future
