Love the Warboss on the bike.
Looks great.

Also that answers the Wheel question..

Bases:
No way am I rebasing. For several reasons.

One - Time/effort/money. Each model would have to be changed and new bases bought etc and the work to redo them all, I need to be working on unpainted minis...

Two - number of models, I didn’t change my marines as it would have taken too long, and that was 60-70 models.
My Orks are triple that..

Three - Army cases. They were bought and planned with old slots for them (custom battlefoam, so it’s exact sized bits).
That’s why my Necrons stayed on old bases, and I’m only just building them up now, but they wouldn’t fit in otherwise - maybe the Praet/Lychguard models I will, and characters. Same with Orks, but not the slots wouldn’t fit them for..

Yeah, because clipping the sides of a base and gluing it on top of bigger one or simply using the enlarging adapting rings is really time and money consuming, and totally not takes less than a hour and a few $ for even a big army (just wait for base bag sales on ebay). Hell, even if you were then PVA the rim and re-sand or re-flock it for uniformity it's still less than a day job...

I mean, way to make an assumption about someone else’s life.
I don’t have the time, I told you that. I didn’t say no one can do it.
I’m slow at painting and modelling, and don’t get much time for it, let alone playing.
I have a one year old to invest my time in (oh, you or someone else has a kid too and still has the time to rebase - great for them, I’m not you/them).
My hobby money is limited, so buying that stuff still costs where I don’t want to invest.

But hey, you don’t need to worry, you’ll never play me, so let me have my opinion on rebasing.

And on the Official bass size, despite you citing AoS which is irrelevant (albeit yes for now, I agree most stuff ports over), they did also say that GW tournaments and games themselves have no official size, not even what comes in box, and it’s all just a guide.

On the topic and exciting happiness of the new book:
I do hope that it isn’t all pushed towards the new vehicles, and green tide gets a good showing, and boys in trukks etc

Honestly I think £80 is on the higher end of likely prices, since that's how much the Kill Team starter set is. I wouldn't be surprised if it's slightly less than that to be honest.

If it's £90 I'd be very surprised

£80 is definitely not the higher end.
Could you imagine it being £60 or £70!? That’s insane. Though I’d love it for the amount of free stuff we’d get.

You have to remember it’s a GW boxed game, with rules and everything you need to play, not a start collecting Speed Orks.

I’d say £80-£90, depending on the price of the new vehicles, more likely £80 if I was throwing a guess in, but that’s the lower end I’d say.

Vehicles are probably £30 each unfortunately, which would make it one buggy and all the terrain/rules free

Yeah but Kill team is just two squads, then terrain. The Speed Freeks box has that in the form of bikes really, but then two full vehicles on top.
Definitely won’t have as good a rule book as Kill Team, that is a big and in depth tome for sure.
But 6 terrain pieces take up a good bit of the space terrain from KT.
Looking at other Gw game boxes, it’s a similar amount for £80+

I hope not. Orks really don't need another unit where you have to pay £0.50 per point or more. Two buggies for £30 would be acceptable to me. Making them more expensive than trukks just means I will be kit-bashing them out of trukks.

2 for £30 no way.
Maybe, I mean maybe, same price as the trukks, but really it’s a new kit, I’d be looking at their newer kits for prices.
As we all know it’s never about the amount of plastic used unfortunately..

Also though, they are pretty much the size of a trukk though right, just lower set to the ground obviously, but length wise.

Yeah I guess.
I suppose time will tell
Cheaper the better for me, though I doubt I’ll get it. I don’t need any more bikes and my case has no room for more vehicles anyway

It seems to be kind of based on their power on the table / points value. Characters are really expensive per model in both points and money, elite units fairly expensive for both, etc. Unfortunately it seems that small vehicles like the Taurox and the Goliath don't follow that pattern and orks have the ridiculously overpriced Mek Guns as a precedent.

Indeed.
I remember the Goldswords of Warhammer..

And that’s like the Armigers, when Forgebane came out, they had no release so people could charge whatever they can get

Though I also see no hits searching any combo of Spped, Freeks, Ork, Buggy etc

Like I said before it’s just like the Armigers.

They’ve looked at the box, which they know they’ll buy five or so of, though yeah probably £80 let’s say. Get their discount down to £60 when they buy from the right stockist.
Work out a guess at the highest you can sell each item for to surpass that £60 and turn it all into profit.

The first ones to do it guarantee more sales as no one else is competition..

There is no knowing it’s 10% cheaper, as buggies have no release yet.
And even a GW staffer would not know prices for stuff coming later on.
(They won’t get a non Speed Freeks release for I while I wouldn’t think, otherwise it muddys the sales of that box, and it’s too many to do with the Ork book all at once.

Anyway, who cares.
It’s not really an Ork rumour,

Wait what? Where is this?

This Sunday should be telling us what is due for pre order the following week which "should" be Orks.

[speculation] I think we get Speed Freeks ahead of the codex - at least a week. Up for pre-order on the 29th Sept, then first week of Oct is the run up to the codex preorder, codex out on the 7th.[/speculation]
If the two buggies are released separately as part of the Ork release, needs to be some time between the game release and the individual one.

We know Speed Freeks is before the Ork release, community said so I think.
I’d say that comes out 6th.
Then probably 13th book with some models, 20th the rest of models. (Could be 20/27th I suppose with a gap between to let people buy a gak ton of Speed Freek boxes.
If that’s the case then I’d say the last week might not even be Orks

It’d be a short white dwarf if Orks aren’t in it.
Though 29th for more knights preorder.
Then Ork preorders 6th, 13th, maybe 20th, - if two weeks for 40k and one for Speed Freeks.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Unless you just mean Ork 40k release.
Speed Freeks will be, then maybe just the codex and Trike guy for the week after.
And non WD is the other Ork bits preordered from 20th

Being tired when I wrote it it may not have made sense

But I meant if only the start of month releases are in WD, then Titans and Speed Freeks would have to be preorder 29th and 6th (release 6th and 13th).

Point being, surely at least the Ork codex if not all the releases will be in the new WD.
I was sure that each issue shows pretty much the 4 weeks preorders following it’s release, so 29/6/13/20) which is all the Saturdays in Oct right?

To be honest I don’t look in too much detail at that part of a WD anymore, as we normally know all that from the internet..

It is worth pointing out than when GW talk about dates, they are almost always talking about the preorder date. I remember looking forward to the promised April release of Ko a couple of years ago only for the first preorder date to be April 30th.
So for GW October starts with the October 6th preorder.
I still think that is when we will see Speed Freeks.
Though with the surprise addition of wake the dead, we may get Kill Team commanders on the 6th and Speed Freeks after that.

You know I just can’t be bothered to get involved in all this petty arguing, but I was going to post this.

It’s pre order that is used, so 27th is likely to still be one, though people are gonna complain they are getting it November.

Also whenever it was mentioned releases used to take a whole month - I mean we used to also have things release in one go each month and not weekly right?

Well I’m excited about the book!

As nice as the new models so far are (and I’m sure the ones still to come!) I don’t want to get anything but new rules.

I have too much of a tide of green already
Made in gb
Longtime Dakkanaut

What makes you say that?
Made in gb
Longtime Dakkanaut

13/20/27th will likely all be Ork related preorders.
(I won’t say the 6th as that would be in WD).

White Dwarf doesn’t mean anything on releases, many people have made the point on here about how magazines work, but there too many told you so’s and sarcastic ‘no Orktober’ comments for people to see the actual facts.

Just look at all other months what comes out and what’s in white dwarf.

I mean, it seems clear that they could do a whole issue packed with Ork stuff if they get the timing right, which I guess they are doing (next months WD we will see eh?), but it was never going to be the October WD, as it’s not how their magazine works. Doesn’t mean they aren’t releasing anything Orks.

I bet in the lead up we will get more community stuff on the Orks now too..

If you get info about a release date, pictures of models, news of kit options, info from the codex, stratagems etc.

Any of that, stuff we don’t know basically
Made in gb
Longtime Dakkanaut

When the grot vehicle gets shown (if real), it will be the rounded body like the jet thing.
Boom, dual kit!

The others, so much looks like it is similar, then a slight bit different in a small way as to not match bits.
I agree three in a box could make it so, but they are big, that kit would be too expensive surely.

Here’s a thing on number of kits that got touched on but no one took it to the end of the string.

The Speed Freeks models don’t get model releases (yet. And obviously they will, but let’s say it is 3-6 months down the line. After all they want you to buy the big box).

Following on from that -
Rumour of number of kits, we’ll take two buggy’s off, as they are in that box so aren’t on the list of 4-7 kits, whichever number it is, I’ve lost track by this point.
So maybe this whole 4+3 kits thing is the number of Orktober (a phrase which seems to have spawned so much hatred ), so more could be coming in the last week or two of it which are in that number, with the SF buggies not being in the number, as a separate Jan-April release..?

Warboss Trike.
Jet thing.
Buggy
+grot buggy (could be in jet or buggy kit)

That’s 3-4 kits, with spare numbers for the other things people think are coming, just food for thought.
I honestly don’t know what I think it will be now.
(If I was betting I’d go for Crazy Custom Buggy making 3 variants, Jet/Grot rounded/jet chassis buggy’s, warboss trike, one warboss/hq model whether Ghaz or something, one infantry kit as specialists of whatever. That’s 5. Then I’ll be happy )

Probably because they’ve read this thread of arguments and find it hilarious
Made in gb
Longtime Dakkanaut

Also I would say this just pushes the fact there will be some non vehicle releases.

It was worded the last of the Ork vehicle reveals.
Not last of the Ork reveals.
So that adds weight to at least some more things coming.

Longtime Dakkanaut

Have they said that’s the only release up for preorder next week?
Maybe trolling us somewhat by not white announcing the rest of that preorder yet?
Wishful thinking probably. But I’ve got no rush for Ork things as i’m behind with loads of projects

So to kinda bring it back to topic, the fact we don't have a pre-order for Orks this coming week might indicate we won't have anything beyond vehicles, right?

Some were saying/hoping we could have a new Ghaz but we've seen the older model on some pictures ...

They are however old pictures already in production right?

There isn’t a picture of old Ghaz, with new vehicles or 32mm Orks all together.
(Unless there is and I missed that), it’s pictures from older publications being reused right?

There’s 4 if not 5 crew on here.
The three you see.
Sock puppet guy (you see his arm trailing to behind the guy on top.

Then what could be sock puppets leg or appendage, on the right of top guy is more of a limb (not his though arms wise as we see them, could be his raised leg. But could be part of Socky as it is further back etc..)

EDIT: Though now I agree with Red Corsair, the “5th” possible could be in the pen/a grot.
