Yes you heard me- Rackham has announced a plastic model!  The following is a quote from their online store:
"This Cry Havoc also offers some other surprises : a new version of the aberration? made of plastic. Yes, it must be said that Rackham does not renounce the noble metal pieces, but those who like it will be able to appreciate the fineness of this sculpture coming after summer."

Here are the new releases:

Check it out- lots of amazing stuff.  Don't forget to PM Russ and ask him to make me MOD of the new Rackham sub-forum

If you read the fluff on those snake guys, your choice will seem even more apropos. Nasty dudes with "appetites"...

The 'Stilt Chicks' are actually in the Fault of Kaiber novel... they wade through zombies.

The snake people are like sleazy cardacians from Star Trek.

Elf Chicks on stilts need to be in a Harlequin army list.

Nice stuff, as always. Remember seeing a number of these greens. Would consider using Cadewallion (SP?)
stuff as Kossites for Khador...

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Indeed. A great month of releases. And those blunderbus dwarves would make fantastic squats.

But kicked up a notch. Err... several notches. IIRC one of the Ophidians raped his slave and later in a fit of rage, tore the unborn child out of her.

What's the size on Pimp Cane Padrino, anyone know? If large enough, he might make a cool Fantasy mount. The dude with the hobbit carrying his sword is pretty choice, too.

Thanks Dad, but not every one on the boards uses Star Trek aliens as points of reference.

Sure Malfred! I lost a girlfriend to Navy training (she had to move to the other side of Canada ), so I'm a lone wolf once again. And as GW has taught us- "lone wolf"="love wolf".

More news- this comes from Kaian Draghost (a Rackham employee who answers questions on the forum every once and a while):

" For example, the Aberration Prime is simply impossible in metal because of the size of the mini. We have produce, four different heads, four different arms, two different torso, one specific (real scenery) base, two different blade on the back of the creature and the model is twice and half of the original Aberration. With all these variants, we are able to give you the possibility to choose the way you want to play your Aberration. Four different tactics, four different visions of the creature in the game tactics. And to conclude, produce this model in plastic, assure us to provide our gamers with the quality we work for, no less and at a fair price. "

I have to admit to being in a GW vacuum with regards to models of late (with the exception of Japanese stuff) and have never heard of Rackham till now. And OH MY GOD! There are some great models there on that site. So many brillaint things to use as Spawn, Chaos Warrirors, Elves, Dogs of War even! Now the problem is, I know that with regard to conversions with competitors stuff GW get a little shirty. Kind of like XBOX vs PS2 and the like.

I know that technically you can only enter GW or hand sculpted models into Golden Demon, but i have just actually noticed that this years UK winner (or should i say last years? oh well the most recent one gone anyway!) actually used one of Rackhams models as the basis for his Gold medal winning 40k miniture.

To what extent can we get away with this? For example for private games at home I couldn't care less. However if I go to a GW gaming room I'm likely to get moaned at, and my main interest Golden Demon may come into issues due to this (although i have some amazing conversion ideas!). For example if i cant even mix Balrog wings to my Fantasy Dragon, how the hell am I going to blag using components from a competitors kit?

Any ideas or suggestions to what extent this will cause issues?

Personally i think beautiful models are beautiful models. And its the artistry in the conversion, sculpting and painting that should be judged. Not what company it comes from or came from originally.

GW rules no longer prohibit you from using other models. The only requirement is that their basis be a GW model (you can use parts from other minis) or a scratchbuilt job.

That is what my feelings about Rackham was about 5 months ago.  I bought a Kelt Sessair model and looked at it up close.  They are amazing.  Got the rule book next and loved the rule set.

Now I am almost finished with a Kelt army and haven't painted a GW figure in over 4 months.  You know what?  I am happy.

Indeed- the Abberation Prime is the plastic model we're talking about. Rackham has decided to do a different model so as to avoid simply redoing a model in plastic. They're good like that- you can still play armies composed of 1st edition Rackham models in Confrontation 3rd ed.

Also mentioned in the Rackham employee's post was that a plastic Dwarf Golem kit was coming up after the Abberation kit and that they plan to reserve the plastics to large and complex models with around 4 releases a year. Something along the line of the GW Giant kit. No one needs to comment on the giant- we all know Brian Nelson rules

I forgot to answer that other question- the pictures of the Abberation Prime will be releases exclusively through the next French issue of Cry Havoc. I think that issue is the one released this month, but he may have been refering to issue 12 (released in two months time). The description on the online store for this month's french cry havoc mentions a Abberation Prime preview, so hopefully that's the one with pictures. Once the French posters pick up that issue we can expect to see scans online. I just wish the French/English release schedules were synched up now. Hopefully that'll be done by the end of the summer.

Is the Aberration that big thing with the huge horn they were selling for about a thousand bucks?  (I can't open any of the images as websense has blocked them all.)

It was kind of interesting -- certainly well carved.  If the plastic kit is affordable, Imay pick one up for a Behemoth in HOTT.

Are you talking about the giant dino/squiggoth-looking beasty? That's the Tarascus. The Aberrations are the big Alien-looking guys from the Hybrid & Nemesis board games.By the way, I found out that in Confrontation, you can play the Tarascus solo against everyone else Godzilla-style. How cool is that?

@Elusive71 how many points is tarascus in conf?

I'm not sure (don't play the game), but this is what the website says about him:

"The Tarascus is a Titan that can be played with the army of Bran-Ô-Kor or with the alchemists of Dirz. He can also be played alone against an army in Confrontation 3. The Dogs of War extension is required for him to be played in Confrontation and Rag?Narok (for the Titan rules)."

And here's links to his cards which I'm sure have the stats:

I tried to see it, but it's some kind of pdf freakishness which then would not open on my PC. Hate their website -- much too busy.

That's not hard, though.

Some of their stuff is OTT (like the often-preposterous weapons), as is the French way, but when it's great, it's really great.

Yes, the tabasco. That's what I'm talkin' bout -- the tabasco -- it's HOT!
