I'm playing around with 2 lists that I want to squeeze in a Battalion, either a VSG or SLP and 3 WKs. But I can't decide which combo would be ideal;

List A:
Spoiler:
_____Battalion <Alaitoc>___+5 CP (Mark of the Incomparable Hunter)
127-- Autarch Skyrunner w/ Lance, Banshee mask & Reaper launcher
137-- Farseer Skyrunner w/ Spear, Doom & Fortune
65—Spiritseer w/ Protect/Jinx & Faolchu’s wing
48-- 8 Storm Guardians
60-- 5 Rangers
60-- 5 Rangers

_____Fortification Network___
110 – Skyshield landing pad

_____Super Heavy <Alaitoc>___+3 CP
429 – WraithKnight w/ 2 Heavy Wraithcannons & 2 Scatterlasers
429 – WraithKnight w/ 2 Heavy Wraithcannons & 2 Scatterlasers
530 – Skathach WraithKnight w/ 2 Deathshoud cannons & 2 Shuricannons
----------------1995pts, 11CPs

List B:
Spoiler:
_____Battalion <Alaitoc>___+5 CP (Mark of the Incomparable Hunter)
127-- Autarch Skyrunner w/ Lance, Banshee mask & Reaper launcher
137-- Farseer Skyrunner w/ Spear, Doom & Fortune
65—Spiritseer w/ Protect/Jinx & Faolchu’s wing
72—6 Rangers
60-- 5 Rangers
60-- 5 Rangers

_____Fortification Network___
190 – Void Shield Generator

_____Super Heavy <Alaitoc>___+3 CP
429 – WraithKnight w/ 2 Heavy Wraithcannons & 2 Scatterlasers
429 – WraithKnight w/ 2 Heavy Wraithcannons & 2 Scatterlasers
431 – WraithKnight w/ Suncannon, Shield & 2 Starcannons
--------------------------------------- 2000 pts, 11CPs

Obviously these are only semi-competitive and not tourney worthy. This is just meant for quick easy games, potentially against other Knight lists
I like the consistent 5++ given by the Landing Pad (until it's dead) and that fact that it's cheaper, thus allowing me to add a Skathach WK
But the VSG giving a 4++ until it loses 9 wounds is not only a better save making all the WKs really tough to handle, but it presents another tempting T8 target for the opponent to try to lower that save. And if they are shooting at the VSG, they aren't shooting at the WKs, so that's a plus.
I feel the Landing Pad would just be ignored, so it doesn't add as much as the VSG.

In both lists the Autarch sits between the HWC WKs to give the reroll 1s, while also sniping characters.
The goal for either list is to neutralize the biggest threat to the WKs, then move forward for some melee

In list A, the SWK can either drop in turn 2, or deploy on the pad for some turn 1 shooting
In list B, the Suncannon WK will be advancing to present a more pressing target for the enemy, but it will also have Fortune (hopefully). It will also be the more aggressive melee WK.

Any thoughts?

Are you thinking of using the Spirit seer as a missile to shoot up the board and Jinx a primary target?

Pretty much. I've found Jinx to be a pretty mandatory and usually have it on my Hemlocks, but those aren't part of this list.
If it's too risk during turn one, He can hang back and cast Protect to make my 1 deployed Troop all the more annoying to remove (as the 2 Ranger units will always be dropping in turn 2)
But he'll hide just behind the WK that will be moving forward and getting Fortuned

Honestly, he seems like a waste at that point. I think in list A you'd be better off taking a Warlock Skyrunner for the protect/jinx play. I know the warlock is less survivable, but it will have guaranteed better mobility and will allow you to to the the shimmerplume on the Autarch to boost his survivability in the event he needs to venture out on his own.

As for list B, I'd take a Farseer on foot, drop the Spiritseer, and then skimp everywhere you can to get a Hemlock on the board with Jinx. This gives you the same psychic capabilities, but it presents a challenge for your opponents as they not have another juicy target to consider (one that with clever positioning and lightning fast reactions can get to a -3 to hit)

The spiritseer just doesn't seem to have a place in your list as I don't think you'll ever get to use its aura (the autarch will provide that anyway)

So how does this look:

_____Battalion <Alaitoc>___+5 CP (Mark of the Incomparable Hunter)
127-- Autarch Skyrunner w/ Lance, Banshee mask & Reaper launcher
132-- Farseer Skyrunner w/ Doom & Fortune
48-- 8 Storm Guardians
60-- 5 Rangers
60-- 5 Rangers
210-- Hemlock w/ Jinx

419 – WraithKnight w/ Suncannon/Shield & 2 Scatterlasers
419 – WraithKnight w/ Suncannon/Shield & 2 Scatterlasers
524 – Skathach WraithKnight w/ 2 Deathshoud cannons & 2 Scatterlasers
----------------------------------------------------------------- [ 2000 pts] 11CPs

It's missing the Fort, so I can't take dual HWC WKs, but it has more dakka and the 2 Suncannon shield WKs can be a bit more aggressive moving forward (like 2 massive bodyguards for the Autarch & Farseer)

I like the forts....makes the opponent waste part of or most of his 1st turn shooting. If you use the new prepared position strat...even better.

Didn't even think about that for the Forts themselves, but you are right, it would apply to them.
I still think the VSG is a better add for 3 WKs, unless 2 or more WKs have the 5++ already. I really want an opponent to shoot at the VSG first to waste some turn 1 firepower.
