Hi guys,
today I painted and based 30 guardsmen using a mix of Contrast and classic paints. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the contrasts tbh.
So this is the first time I ever painted more than 5 models in a day and I'm super happy with this. It took me almost 9h though (that's about 18min for a model).
What about you ? How many models did you paint ?

Here is a picture:
Spoiler:

They aren't that good but definitely combat ready, with highlights and based and several colors and are varnished and they aren't uncomfortable to look at.
For 30 guys in day, I'm quite proud. Even if I had illimited time, I wouldn't have spent 2h on each of them as I usually do, especially knowing I have 30 more to do.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.

A small Imperial Guard army, including a company command squad, 3 units of Veterans, and 2 Vendettas. It might have had a couple of Chimeras as well, I don't really remember.

All done in 18 hours ahead of a tournament. Not fun at all - it actually put me off guard permanently.

How could you stay focus for 18h ?!

The day before a tournament I was signed up 4 months before. But I was like "I have still 2 months I have time... okey 1 month... okey two weeks I should start now... ok 4 days i REALLY should start... feth me the tournament is tomorrow"

I painted for 14 hours straight. I nearly died.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

A near countless number of skeletons. 50 or so spearmen, 30ish archers, probably 20 cavalry. I eventually sold the army, so I don’t recall exactly.

It was 5th edition Fantasy, and I’d started a Tomb Kings army. Primed in off-white, slapped a brown wash over everything, dry brush with Ushabti Bone (?) spear shafts and bows in black, metal in boltgun, red details.

Bestial brown base, glued sand on top, washed in dark brown. Sealed, then glued small patches of static grass to the base. I still do my bases that way, most of the time.

Very simple, but also a big chunk of easy, fully painted army, which was exactly why I decided to play them in the first place.

About 15 Space Marine scouts. I could do more, but I did not use contrast paints, was doing a detailed paint with camo, eyes, weathering, etc. and this takes time.

Not long ago I painted an entire Repulsor in one day, in the same quality as mentioned above.

29 Ork boyz, multiple times. If I don't do them in one go, I lose the motivation to continue. Takes about six hours.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I think 30 is the most - three ten-man squads of American rifleman for Bolt Action. It was for a game I was playing the next day.

On the reverse end, the longest I've ever taken to paint one model is 28 years - a metal space marine captain I bought in 1991 and just painted this year.

Not a day, but I took my entire Tyranid army from primed to finished in a weekend fora narrative event. I used a mostly airbrush and wash-based scheme with selective details for blood spatter and eyes on larger beasties. It consisted of:

60 genestealers
2 winged tyrants
4 carnifexes
6 hive guard
Trygon
9 rippers
3 biovores
Exocrine
Tyrannofex
Broodlord

I was a different man by the end, but it was a great feeling. I have a similar thing planned soon for the ~150 gaunts of various stripes that are still rattling around a box in the loft somewhere, but I haven't yet plucked up the courage to attempt

I smashed the entire Blackstone Fortress Box in a day. I kinda regret it as I didn’t do as good a job on it as I would normally do, but I just sort of went into a zen state and kept painting.

I also batch painted 80 Gaunts in a day but that was with contrast and only required 3 colours

Yeesh, and I thought I felt proud in painting 5 Guardsmen in one day!

Well, hopefully I can increase my Max count from either my Bonereapers or my 30k army, as those schemes I have are super simple.

Well, speed doesn't mean good.
Good also doesn't mean time spent.

I believe everyone has a sweet spot and in hindsight whilest i am a bulk painter i prefer snaller bulks then the 50 Model challange

Probably 30 28mm Soviet WWII infantrymen (photo of them in spoiler below). Maybe the same number of United Sates WWII Infantrymen too, but they have a few more colors including a custom paint mix so doubtful I actually painted as many of them in a single sitting. Just the same, I usually painted my WWII troops in full batches and basic infantry had 30 models in them.

Spoiler:

For GW stuff, I am usually around 6 models a week though. Trying to move a little faster with my first AoS army since it is for an escalation league and I started a little late.

Well, I'm a slow painter and can only paint at the weekend atm.
Recently, I've painted three Invictors. It took me one weekend per Invictor and then another weekend for the three bases.

An entire Necron starting force, two squads of Warriors, a Necron Lord, a squad of Immortals, a Squad of Destroyers and a Tomb Spyder plus Scarabs. The fact Necrons are pretty much entirely one colour (a dark copper colour for mine) with a dark undercoat made them ridiculously simple to mass paint, even with highlights / washes.

My record is one. I have seen one painter dude at the store do a dark empire box set marine part in 8 hours. Don't think he used any brushs till he did small details though.

No such thing as cheating when it comes to painting. If it looks good, it works.

Oh, absolutely. But it doesn't stop people who paint more professionally (at a glacial rate) from decrying the practices.
