General idea -- use Stormboyz as a straight up boy substitute. They go in the trukks, get in position to harass / charge / perform any actions I need them to. Worse comes to worse, the trukks are there to screen / get engage on all fronts / get in the way.

Otherwise, just a ton of buggies to lay down firepower and bite a hold of a section of the board. Wagon push or hold wherever I need them to.

As much as I like Mega Nobs, I sort of wonder if it would be interesting to swap them to Nob Bikers for a more mobile, independent unit. I could probably achieve this by dropping one of the bonebreakers to a regular wagon.

I don't really see the advantage of putting stormboyz in trukks.
If anything, I'd put them in a boomer wagon to keep them safe for a turn.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

It's the same reason you put boys in trukks.

Except these can move 12" + 3" disembark out of them and perform an action, or auto move 18" to contest an objective.

Edit: you can also do some cheeky things like scramblers turn 1, move their trukk up with a move / advance, then turn 2 boost the storm boys up into an embark and have the transport move up again.

You could throw them in the gun wagon but given it’s back field camping and half move to fire twice, it’s not likely to get too far up the board.

The reason I put boyz in trukks is because I don't want to pay 3CP for my detachment though

To me it feels like this army would be better if you just went for a battalion with trukk boyz and kommadoz. Storm boyz might make sense to get some cheap infantry into an outrider detachment, but once you add trukks, they are no longer cheap.

That's fair. To be honest, I'd rather go for jank. I don't really see the value of boys in trukks beyond trying to get 3 more CP. And stormboys simply can do things boys can't because they are flying infantry.

I'd rather get more valuable slots and avoid troops. As long as Deathskulls can get Obsec for ALL infantry, I think this is a more interesting strategy.

Why not spend the points on more stormboy bodies instead of trukks then?

I think a trukk provides more defence for 65 points than 5 more Stormboy bodies.

I largely think of a trukk as a shell to keep boys alive from bolter fire.
