OOC Thread for Coordinating our next W&G Game:

Background: St. Boniface's Reach has long been dominated by three powerful men. Administrator Friedrich von Gaussenberg, the Militant Governor Louisy, and Cardinal Richemont maintained a careful balance of power for decades. But the demise of Gaussenberg coupled with the Governor's mysterious disappearance has plunged the world into chaos. Now...as the shadowy omens of the forthcoming 4th Tyrannic War loom, our heroes are called upon to undertake a desperate mission to bring stability to this world before it is too late.

Rules:

Open to the following character archetypes: (Can also use a character from a previous game on these forums. Including the old Only War Campaign!)

Imperial Guardsmen
Inquisitorial Sage
Inquisitorial Acolyte
Scavy (Mutant)
Ministorum Priest
Hive Ganger
Eldar Corsair (A little different but welcome in this "Ocean's 11" type scenario

You can also choose a custom archetype: In that case you would be a standard human with a background of your choosing, and a wider selection of combat gear to start.

Format:

Goal is to post about once per 24 hour period during the week (Monday through Friday). If you plan to be away, just notify on OOC thread.

I'll keep it rules light. Game will be focused on your choices and I'll automate a lot of the dice rolling. I.E. In a combat, just indicate what actions you are taking, and I'll narrate a result. If a fight starts to go badly you'll get an option to retreat (most of the time) but that will be another choice you have to make.

I don't know what exactly you have in mind, but if possible I would like to play von Bülow, the designated successor of von Gaussenberg, who was not really up to the task. As Gaussenberg he is from Mordia and has served in the Mordian Iron Guard before getting into the Administratum. He is a competent man, but the shoes Gaussenberg left have been too big for him in the sense that he didn't manage to establish himself as one of the triumvirat of rulers of the world but "just" as head of the Administratum.

The twist of the character I would like to have is that other then Gaussenberg who was with calculating artillery solutions in the Iron Guard, von Bülow was (and still is) quite a competent duelist with a powersword and no slouch with a duelling laspistol either (if that is not to much to ask).

Right, I very much love to explore the Kallenese armed forces through the lenses of his various soldiers, so if nobody wishes to paly the guard, I think I'll do it.

This time, rather than an inexperienced but dedicated trainee like the late Gaston, I think i'd go with a crippled, retired NCO who was taken as an intendant to governor Loisy. While his skills are severly hampered by his wounds, he brings with him a wide network of acquaintances, authority, from the governor himself, and fine knowledge of how all of this show is run in the backstage. Unlike Loisy or Gaston, he is a pragmatic, realistic folk, that archetype of desillusionned but competent NCO.

Kind of a smart guy, in fact, with good persuasion/charisma stats to mirror it, good skills with weapons, but a handicap on physical stats such as speed or the like. Thinking of it, an inquisitorial sage archetype could do fine as well!

I'd name him Adjudant-chef Hervé Lachanal.

Sounds like a good plan.

I don't want to give too much away, but the plot involves being hired by a third party to make both Loisy and the Cardinal "disappear" so that another person can take over.

Note: The title Rise of the Governor is NOT talking about Loisy lol.

Essentially you'll be orchestrating a coup. Whether it ends up being a violent one or not will depend on the approach the characters end up taking. Should be fun.

I'd also love to see some more of our "Only War" friends return. I'll give it a good week or so for character creation and signing up. [Once I know the gist of the character I can take care of crafting character sheets for you all. Pyro, since you have the rules you can still do that yourself though]

Oh I see, in fact there could also be room for a double agent in there... could it not? Or an old, loyal NCO that just wants his beloved master to retire and stop straining himself with the risk of leaving no heir!

@ Dekskull: I see, in that case I think von Bülow would be less fitting as he would be too well known and too high stationed to be up for such a mission.

Instead I would take up the opportunity and would reactivate Tambo from our only war game. So a veteran scout from a feral/feudal world regiment known for their flexible style of ressource procurement. Good with a Longlas as well as with a sword (a normal one, not a power weapon or anything), excellent in sneaking around, even if he might be a bit on the wrong foot in a hive instead of the jungle.
Last we left him he was put into a special operations unit, in my head cinema something like CIA Blackops if you want. So I leave it up to you if he is there as some kind of mercenary doing this in his downtime, if he acts on command of a higher authority in the Astra Militarum or even as an associate of the Inquisition. Come to think about it he doesn't even have to know if it was the later, if the Inquisitor in question prefers to stay anonymous. I think if one of them approaches an Astra Militarum General and asks "could I borrow one or two black ops soldiers who won't be missed and whom I always can denounce should they be captured" they would surely not hear a "No" for that.

Hmmmm.... I will have to think on that one. It is tempting to bring back my Only War character as I think I had a good feel for his way of thinking and his knack with Tech could be helpful here.

However, I think I will try something different. I have a few options, and would love to hear what my fellow players would prefer:

1. Redemptionist Zealot and trained assassin who finds both Governor's lacking in zealousness and faith. A fanatical type with a streak of prgmatism.

2. Spy beholden to the monied interests on St. Bonifacious Reach, with a criminal background. A go-along-to-get-along schemer, infiltraitor, and merc.

3. A Sister of Battle who has soured on the Cardinal after the loss of so many of her sisters. A woman with PTSD and slowly losing her faith.

What do you guys think?

seeing that this shapes up to be more of a heist/Oceans 11 setup I would tend to the spy-guy. But the sister of battle also sounds very interesting.

Those are all great concepts. Whatever you want to go with is fine with me. Honestly, I'd love to see Tambo back though. This is a perfect mission for him.

Your party will have options to exercise stealth and subterfuge, but combat abilities and raw firepower never hurts either.

Add yes...of course an Inquisitor is organizing the whole thing. That's a given! :thumbs-up:

Here's to hoping we get another player as well!

if an inquisitor oversees this, then the double agent from Loisy could reeally become a fun option to explore for my character but would demand some finesse to play and GM

@ Dekskull: I would try and come up with a character sheet. Which tier/amount of XP do you aim for?

That would be great. Tier I 100 XP is my preference for this one. If you go with a custom archetype (which might be a good choice since the Imperial Guard archetype ability Look out sir is kind of terrible) you lose the archetype ability but you get more flexibility for armor and weapons.

No access to the rules here, so I will be of zero help in that department.

I think I will play the Mercenary Infiltraitor, who was nominally part of a trading guild and specialized in Guild vs. Guild operations. So skills in disguise, deception, and stealth. Not as much in the killing department.

He will probably have a some sort of weak, easily hidden silenced pistol, and a hi-tech, concealable garrote of some type.

He's been an Infiltraitor for so long, he is not 100% sure who he is at this point, with identities all swirling together.

Can't do my own sheet either, but I think for once I'll definietly go for the double agent of sorts being officially a governor's intendant but fearing that the governor could be manpulated and must designate an heir at long last before the poor man breaks...

Qutoing the concept as I worte it ealier: "This time, rather than an inexperienced but dedicated trainee like the late Gaston, I think i'd go with a crippled, retired NCO who was taken as an intendant to governor Loisy. it is, no one has got any job left, firms barely have got work left for those they have already hired and lots are getting fired at this point from everywhere I hear. Plus examples of Arcelor, Michelin, Auchan and the like firing lots of folks too... Yeah, that's getting bad over here.

Hey people, @Maréchal has been telling me about this RP thread for a while now, and it looks like a third session is coming?
If y'all are still open to new characters (and players ), I'd be very happy to join you.

If that's the case, I'd like to play as Parsen, an impulsive, cigar smoking, STD-ridden industrial tycoon with a maimed left hand due to prior mafia-like conflict with a rival. Involved in all kinds of shady business, he was accused of heresy by the Ecclesiarchy and had to buy his way out of it by giving away a part of his industrial empire to Cardinal Richemond.
Today, the Inquisition wants to use him to achieve their goal. The information they have about his hidden scandals are a great way of "persuading" him, and his grudge held against Richemond will certainely prove useful...
He doesn't have many combat gear himself, and lets his goons do the dirty work. Still, he has a one handed double-barreled sawn-off shotgun, called "Mirage", who saved him a couple times from assassins...

Tell me if submissions are closed or if I have to change/add something to the character!

We are definitely still recruiting. Welcome to the club! I'll go ahead and work on creating your character sheet but for right feel free to jump into the in character thread and start Roleplaying.

And here is the sheet for Lachnal. (Will do the last character tomorrow). Inquisitorial Sage did seem like a good fit. He is a little weaker on the combat side as he has no armor currently (though you all could try to get him some in game). But he has some augmetics that make him faster and can also video record plus he has a nice archetype ability.
