That's their choice. If you look up Bugbears you see that they were originally goblin bears. The aesthetic they are using though is lifted directly from the D&D version. If people see this and aren't as familiar with scale as some of us, they might buy this thinking "oh, I'm getting a bugbear character" then surprise they're actually getting a giant. It's over 2.5" tall. Granted, that would make a decent ogre stand in but someone that's familiar with D&D could be easily misled.

Either way.. My response was one of disappointment not anger.. I know it's hard to read that. I am painting up bugbears right now as a matter of fact for D&D so this got my attention.. I don't have use for this and was bummed out.

In fairness, the size of the models hasn't exactly been a secret. There have been comparison charts, pictures, taglines telling you exactly how many millimeters it is to the eyeline...I don't see anyone buying one by accident only to realize it's out of scale for the bugbears they wanted. I guess they're just more ogre-like in Morn!

Side note - is there anywhere the playtest Underdeep rules can still be found? I'm ridiculously curious about the game setup and world, everything about it sounds like my kind of setting.

Yeah, Ogre-like is what I was thinking..
I didn't actually see comparison pics of the bugbear.. I probably missed them but I kept seeing pictures of the troll.. which a lot of people ARE making 2" + trolls so it didn't seem out of place to me. If they did a whole line of D&D sized bugbears (or hobbgobbies OMG) I would be in hard but I've got ogres for days so it's a disappointment for me :(

I know hobgoblins were in the pipeline at one point...they looked pretty sweet, the concept art had them with Immortals-style masks. And, so far, the models have done a great job of sticking to the concept art!

The comparison chart was a couple pages back, I think. It showed the troll, the bugbear, and...maybe the deathscale? Along with the zombie hulk and a silhouette of a GW elf.

There's a ton of broken links but I did go back a little further than my initial skimming and found one.. Yeah, he's biiiig. Do you know if the hobgoblins were meant to be more man-sized?

Not a clue, sadly. I'm not even sure how big the regular goblins are supposed to be in comparison with, say, night goblins - I'm hoping for a bit bigger, but who knows?

The bugbears, however, ARE in a monster-themed Kickstarter, so that could help indicate how big everything else is supposed to be. Relatively speaking.

Hi all...

Right I'll try and answer everyones questions.

Mlaw...I hope I didn't come across as defensive, that really wasn't my intent.

First of all... the Underdeep game. It is still being playtested. We rushed the intial playtest version out but we will be releasing the game as part of a boxed set KS probably next year. Before that I will make some copies available for serious playtesters.
The game... if some people have not read about it... is skirmish based and themed on the wars underground. We have many factions we want to release, Undead Abominations, Goblinkind, Lizardkin, Orcs, Gnolls, Sunsiders (Adventurer parties and their retinues) along with Drow, Orcs and others.

The Hobgoblins are part of the Goblinknd faction and will be available during the next KS as a stretch goal. I have attached some of the concept artwork below.

We are starting small and trying to build organically so that we don't overstretch, over promise or under deliver. The releases will be methodical and the Kickstarters will be realistic.

The concept art looks incredible as always! Thanks!

Man, that hobgoblin wizard is rocking out hard.

I have probably said this before, but this is such an awesome concept! Will be interesting to see how the game pans out.

Those hobgoblins aren't what I was looking for.. BUT I LOVE THEM! Especially the extremely metal one.

The fact that it's a skirmish but you also mention wars.. which makes me feel like scaling might be involved.

The game is skirmish level but we have played games using 70 odd minus a side. I would class the game as skirmish as you can play with 15-20 minis.

I've had several folks ask at AdeptiCon where they can buy the Deathscale model (built with croc head). I told them you're about to launch a second campaign where they can get it

As for size, it's spot-on perfect size for a Wrastler for Privateer Press. Just have to remove the weapon from the right hand!

Due to a serious internet issue at Minion HQ we have had to reschedule the start of the KS to the 8th of April.

For the last few days we have been operating on 0.25 of a meg that has been fairly restrictive plus the limited capacity of my mobile.

We have contacted the services provider and they have guaranteed it will be fixed within 48 hours. We have given ourselves a buffer just to be sure.

We could launch it before hand but I would not have the ability to respond as I would like to questions and comments and my ability to upload would be non existent in regard to stretch goals etc.

I understand its a pain but as the internet Gods have decided to punish me once I am not going to tempt fate and launch whilst unprepared.

So... to conclude, only the launch date has changed. It is now APRIL 8th @ 9pm.

Please spread the word!!

Nice art!!!

Regarding launch time, are you sure you want to launch on a Friday evening? I think waiting till Monday would be much better for the initial boost, which is quite important to most campaigns. I'll check for it either time but most people won't be on the weekend.

It was just a necessity at the time to give my internet provider time to fix a problem. It is now fixed but I've put so much info out now for the 8th that it seems mad to start earlier. You are not the first person to say this however.

Well it would be later but that makes sense. Still if you decide to push it by a few days I don't think there's any harm done. Will be backing regardless!

Maybe they enjoy playing Magic Realm?

Also, speaking of bugbears...

The alternate parts are certainly a hit - loved the options they gave me from the first campaign! Happy to add on for them, too, rather than have them included - just make sure it's clear that it's one per pledge if you do include them, that was a little hard to understand last time.

Really looking forward to this . I've gotten so many comments on the Wrastler (gator head Deathscale) model in my Hordes army it's crazy. So much better than the official model!

Yes, you should!

Pumpkin Headed Models are something I really like - and no, I don't really know why, other than that they look cool!

While I don't share the sentiment that's the advantage of alternate bits - being able to offer something as an add-on or the like that can give the model a completely different use!

We have an alternative head option as the first stretch goal... It's also free to all backers of premium pledges. It's a cyclopean head giving the hulk a plague demon quality....

So one could conceivably make a GUO out of it?
