What exactly is it? Some guy was threatening me with it, I don't have a clue what it is though. I'm guessing it probably doesn't have anything to do with a certain Spartan military commander.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

It is an army that has 2x5 scouts to fill out the troops slots, and the rest of the army are terminators (The name comes because it looks like a deathwing army).

They take the special character of Lysander so that instead of teleporting onto the field a few units at a time do to reserve rolls, he grants the them the ability to have all of the units teleport onto the table on the same turn.

Cheers. Now I know, I'm not that scared, I've taken armies like this before (not with Lysander though), and the guy I'm playing isn't exactly a tactical genius.

How does Lysander Wing tend to do? I'm almost tempted to paint Imperial Fists, just cause I like the Terminator models, and I think yellow would be fun.

To win with a Lysander wing you don't have to be a tactical genius. The list has upwards of 13+ assault cannons. No tactics other than "shoot you into the ground"....Most armies don't have the resiliency to withstand the shooting for more than a turn or two. Not to say that it is unbeatable, but can be difficult if you aren't prepared.

I play the army, and it does very good over all. I'm played against a good number of the competative lists out there (though there are a few I havent played against) and have to say that it works very well against  most armies. Though, don't expect to get decent comp scores, goobers whine enough when they face 3 or 4 assault cannons, much less 13...

Even though it'd be 'fluffy' with the army...

Yellow is easy to paint....bubonic brown or my fave, bleached bone, with thnned down yellow on top.

So, you're basically working with two HQ units, and your three Elites units, to get Terminators on the table... Is that right?

If I recall, a min-maxed Assault Cannon Term squad is going to be about 250 points. Three of those is 750...

Your two min-maxed Assault Cannon HQs will probably be... 350 points? One with Lysander, one with a Librarian? So another 700 there...

You might have to drop one Elites squad to fit some Scouts in and still make 1500 points, but I think it could fill out to 1850 pretty nicely with a few more Scouts, some Tornados, etc.

I might have to give it a try. The 1500 point list would be something like 30-35 models... That'd be a pretty quick army to paint, even with all the Terminators. Could be fun... I enjoy painting the new Terminators.

Yay for yellow...

anyways, tactics on lysanderwing? Depends on what you take.

I reccomend:
Lysander (obviously)
Lots of non assault termies (otherwise whats the point in taking lysander?)
a couple scout squads to infiltrate so that the vet sgt of each scout squad can find a good place to become the teleport homer focus.
Everything else is to taste but having a landspeeder or two, a demolisher or predator anhiliator, perhaps even some assault marines are a good idea.

Now for tactics.

Termies: regardless of how you choose your heavy weapons for termies, be wary of how you use powerfists. Follow this link for more info. Furious charge is highly recomended. just as tank hunters is. These vet skills are to be mixed on a 1:1 ratio unless you see a particular role they should play.

Scouts: Always get a vet sgt and a teleport homer for him. Snipers also seem the preffered choice in how you equip them. use infiltrate to get the best forward position (preferably in cover or the edge of cover) you can somewhere near the middle of the board if possible. Its ok for the termies to have to walk for a turn maybe two, as shooting until you assault is how to fully utilize termies when deepstriking.

the quicker elements I suggested are there in case you need a good percentage of mobility. In an all comers list, at least some fast stuff is a quality.

It was a euphemism for "my opponent is an idiot". He uses footslogging marines as his homers, so I'll be surrounding them with my faster units.

Good plan. taking them out is one step closer to making termies give you free vps if they scatter badly.

but i suppose simply surrounding them is easier than shooting them. Youre a jerk.

(just kidding about the jerk comment, mate)

I expect that's what he will call me. My response will be laughter. Lots of laughter.
