Listen carefully, I shall say this only once,

I'd love to ride in your tank....

Right that's the yanks alienated....

I was thinking of this as a slight inspiration:

One of my favourite films of all time, a masterpiece IMHO..(not the best pic to show Michael in his Humber Scout car but all I could find at work..)

Those little Renaults are so cute!

The origianl point of ordering stuff off Ramshackle was to get these track units. I was slightly disappointed with them as they are only detailed on one side which I should have realised but also one is slightly larger than the other, I'll have to raise one side up when I put them together..

Here are the 'Mini-Rapiers' I've been wanting to build as my Lascannon battery..

This is probably the configuration I'll go for, trooper has an auspex acting as his remote control thingy..

Other side, the gun shield is off the Shadowsword kit for the Stormlord variant, I could do with a 3rd if anyone is up for a swap?

Tracks other way round, trooper is only very preliminary but will be prone.

Tiny targeter thing is off the heavy weps sprue..

3rd gun missing shield, again trooper very WiP,

I don't think I'll be able to do much inbetween the track bogies as they are bit bigger than originally planned and only just fit onto 60mm bases aready, with the lack of detailing on the far sides it's probably for the best.

Yes I might well do,

The other temptation is to just get them finished as I wasn't planning on these being a massive modelling project, just more interesting than a 'straight out of the box' battery.

In the 1st cofiguration, what they'll all most likely become, I do think it's too obvious and a few rivets or so on the plain side should do it..

Yarp.

Gonna need another...most bitz shops don't seem to do parts for superheavies...might try the dakka swap shop..

Thanks a lot! Yes that was the aim. Let me know if you post up any of your stuff I'd like to take a look.

I just read the FW 6th Update for vehicles and the Salamander (both types) have gained 'Fast' instead of the old BA 'Overcharged Engines' rule (and the Command version didn't have that!). So it's a bit better, YAY..

Finally finished the Storm Troopers..

See what you think..

Got some annoying shine off the lighting, still find it hard to get that right, did print a background though..better?

New basing policy in effect..

Unit number visiable..

Pew Pew Pew!

Glad to have these completed at last, been ages in the making.

Now I just need to revisit their ride and finish the Valk...meh

I propbably won't have a lot of toytime in the next week or so but do have a few pics of rebased stuff to show off and will post those up soon(ish)..

See ya!

Ta ducks,

Bit peeky at the mo, got back from a festival at the weekend with a stonking cold...

Here is some rebased stuff, now I've learened to let go of the Goblin Green I think the new basing really improves the look of the force..

The Commissars and my Captain...looking better I think..

Solo shots of Commissar Dredd, he's such a poser..

Work it baby, now maybe undo a few buttons...?

Sentinal, some annoying yellow light shine on these pics caused by normal house lighting, my daylight lamp doesn't produce enough light by itself and waiting for a sunny day when I'm free at home hasn't been worth it *shakes fist at Summer (or lack thereof)*

Background slip but a better angle to see base, I really like these new fangled tufts..

I've a few more to post up and I'll try to get some pics, I hope to have some time to paint soon too..

Rocket battery

Definately prefer how these guys look now..

Rogue Trader Ratlings

The whole army looks better I think, look forward to taking it for a spin, not had a game with them in 6th yet :(

Still quite under the weather though I think it's grip might be loosening, if so I'll try to get som more stuff done..

See ya

Hiya!!

Been too busy for toy time recently but I have managed to start a bit of painting again, made a start on this behemoth:

Biggest thing I've attempted to paint yet, I want it to be a focal point for the force..this is base coats plus thinned black inkwash

Side pic, only on base colours so far, (just noticed, the tank commander looks like a black and white minstral...eek)

The grays have now been drybrushed back up, still early days in general..

I have upgraded my phone and this one has a slightly nicer camera...

Photographic evidence of all my infantry being rebased!

I want to have (this wave at least of) my Imperial Guard completed by the end of the year, so hopefully I'll get the time to crack on..only need to do:

Obviously the rest of the Shadowsword
Scout Car
Lascannon Battery
Detail/rebase the Valk

I have another CCS but I'm unlikely to need it so I'll do it for fun sometime, and an RT Inquisitor and his 2 Assassin mates to find time for eventually..but I'll have a solid force when I complete the above and I'll be happy with that, I'm feeling the pull to start doing some Marines again, I need to rebase them all for a start!

Back soon!

More chipping away at the endless giant tankathon..

Base coats done and 'gem' effects on lights and red targety things..

Seen better here.

Hood ornament nearly finished..

Colonel <insert name here> basecoated..

More to follow..

Thanks a lot!

It's always inspiring to me to hear things like that!

I'm trying to decide what to paint on the nice big space to the right of the main gun, I'm considering the classic Nid head with sword through it I have in plain white throughout the force or maybe a gauntlet holding a Ultramarine symbol?

Or something else..

Hiya

Here's what I did in the down times when painting the mega bastard tank, built my little Scout Command car!

I think it's come out well, quite cute..

Not too bad a combination of Ramshakle and GW parts I reckon..

Officer exhorting his troops on, nice to not to have to sculpt a GS cap for once..I also replaced the BP with some binocs as they are shorthand for officer in my book. I'm looking forward to using this little beauty on the table top, it's basically a 'Fast' transportless Chimera that can issue all 6 orders and is armed with 2x HBs.

I've managed to find a little time to keep plugging away at the Shadowsword, more pics soon!

More on the Shadowsword:

Came up with a name, named after Nelson's flagship. The blast damage is still wip..

Regiment designation like everyone else..

Lascannon sponson with HK converted on, nearly done here, it's now been black lined and it (and everything else) awaits weathering and chipping (mmmmm chips).

Just further back we can see the stowage section...

More on way

Full shot, showing alternate main gun, this makes it an Hellswordshadowfistblade...or something, I think it's quite good actually S10 10" blast...maybe, not sure off hand..

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Little targetty doo dad

Tracks so far, they're just BG silver inked black and then thinned orange so far, I got some of that new fangled textured paint to ad some grit, they'll get more weathering too..

Same on this spare wheel

little bit more done on this guy but still ages to go..been mostly concentrating on the 'tank' element.... mostly

I've done a bit more and will post up some more pics soon..still to do:

Need to finish off details/decals - decided to go for to good old sword through Nid head logo..and some tiny details scrawling etc
Black line everything - yawn this will take ages, but it does really improve the look
Finish crew - probably the hardest bit blah
Weathering - not going to go mental with this, not going for the 'been driving in Pilton after Glasonbury' look, just some brown drybrushing/ink washes with some chipping and stippling
Banner - going to do a simple pennant to go on the main aerial, just blue with the Upsilon..

Still a way to go..

Painted my logo..

see what you think, blow by blow photos..

Rough 'sketch' in thinned down black, if these line don't end up being painted over they won't be too obvious..I normally do a phase before this where I only use water so I can check things will fit ok in the available area..

2nd round of sketching, making sure it all fits..

Base colours added, several thin coats to get the coverage..

Bit of a jump, but base details added, and highlighted up, sword detailing started.

Base sketch for text..sword details added

First pass at text..

Finished text and final details added to head, picked out teeth better and added the suggestion of veins..

That's it pretty much done, it will get weathered back a bit at the end..

That's us Brits..

Another little detail, added on a shield, reckon should be worth a 6++ vs hits to that side..maybe a 5++..

Some more work on this guy, still WIP obviously..

Starting to flag a bit on this, it's so big, might do a bit of work on the scout car as light relief..

More updates:

Pretty much finished my tank commander..Colonel Grevious(ly Hurt)..

The scar has thin washes of 'Scab Red' and the milky eye is 'Codex Gray' with 'Fortess Gray' over it..I added a bit more scar after these pics..
I think he looks suitably commandery, He has a whitish coat and so stands out a bit from the gray of everyone else..only fair seeing as he's the highest ranking guy I plan on doing..

Pyromaniac Hellhound Pilot

Bristol!

This is my thinking, IG high ups should be surveying the battlefield and issuing orders to massive formations, not running at aliens with a sword...(he's not a Space Marine or to a lesser extent a Junior IG Officer) especially with the power to commandeer anything in the army, "Err I think I'll ride in that one thanks.."

He also denotes the 'Command Tank' upgrade which is a 24"re-roll failed morale for 25pts.

Some general progress shots of the behemoth

Most areas complete except some final detailling and general weathering

Say ahh

Crew and logo

As you can see it's finally nearing completion..

This little guy is basecoated too

Not great pics but it proves it's being painted! I like to have a sub project whenever I'm working on something, especially a big something, as it gives you a task for when things are drying or you're sick of the main project. I've nearly finished it now and don't really remember painting it.

More soon

LOL

Yep Heavy Stubber, best weapon the Guard get, pintle mount grants it the AA rule and being on a Super Heavy means it can independantly target as well....

What do you expect anyway I'm always powergaming.....look at the composition of my troops

I assume you noticed the Hunter killer missile.....

PS: Thanks, glad you like it!

I would recommend the 'Degu' Scout car, casting can be a little off and will require some work but overall good kit, even smells of beeswax....(maybe Ramshackle utilise bee workers?)..I think it would look great for Grots.

This is it finally finished..

All pics zoomable in the gallery..

All details freehand as per usual

Added the obligatory 'Ultramar' text (useful if it gets lost and someone finds it) and a warning notice: May contain traces of nuts.

More obligatory decals, kill markers in both standard and deluxe models..also a red star for no particular reason..aerial also missing I now notice, should be attached to the oblong block to the left, I left it bluetacked so to try and stop it being instantly snapped off. Also decided against a pennant.

Front 'bumper', used that new paint with sand/grain in it to add small clumps of mud about the place, (not especially evident in this pic actually) which I think is quite good stuff.

Say hello to my little friend..I did some heat damage creeping down the barrel of the main gun, I think the titanic energies unleashed by the Volcano cannon would do this and it gives the impression of danger..The area was black drybrushed then multiple thin layers of Liche Purple then Regal blue then black then dwarf bronze followed by Shining gold with more black finally. Then the muzzle was drybrushed with Boltgun and then Mitheral.

Didn't go to town on the rear, it'll be facing away from people most of the time!

Other flank..

Name and blast damage

Tool stowage..

That's about it, say what you think, these pics are looking a little sun bleached (it was actually sunny!) so I might do some more at some point. This has been the biggest thing I've painted and I'm glad to see it finished. I wanted it to be of a nice standard to be a sort of centrepiece for my force and so painted it more intensely, also it's my highest ranking officer (my only Special Character so far is also a tank {Pask} which is quite fitting for the IG IMHO).

I've nearly finished the Armoured car too I'll stick up some pics soonish..

Here's the Armoured Car pics:

Front detailling showing regiment markings..

Some slight amounts of new textured paint have been applied to create little globs of mud about the place..

Side view showing the pintle mounrted HB (a Valkyrie door gun), the Jerry can is part of the Ramshackle kit...

The officer himself, Captain Something or other, answers on a post card..seriously name my Captain! This guy is a Senior officer and issues orders the same as a CCS..

I'm pleased with the kit in general and the over all finish, I think it doesn't look too out of place amongst my forces..

See what you think!

It's in IA1 Update and then altered by the 6th Ed Vehicle update...

But its a Salamander Variant which is basically a Chimera without transport but with Fast and Open Topped..it also cannot have Muti lasers.

It can issue all 6 orders as a CCS and weighs in at 55pts...

It's pretty good IMHO
