The dyed wool carpet is a gakton of work to get though. Which I hope makes my next image more impressive.
I wish I went with all light green dye, that's more economical (sure it uses up a bonemeal but you get twice as much dye for each cactus you use up).
Automatically Appended Next Post: The exterior of each floor is 15x15x5, with each floor having a ceiling and floor. There are four stories and a basement right now. The exterior is made entirely of wood, the ceilings are wood,, and there are four 2x2x1 glass skylights leading from the roof to the first floor, though due to the way thatI made the first floor's stairs to the basement I cannot light up the basement this way, but that's okay.
The floors for the first and fourth floor are made of wool, red red for the first floor and cactus/lime on the fourth. The second floor is reltaively dark and I use it as the bedroom, the third floor has the cactus farm on it and has a lot of yellow wool but iisn't actually the floor per se, mostly it's used to guide the water currents for the dropped cacti blocks.

Melissia, you may find yourself in a very flame-filled situation should Notch decide to add dragons to the game .

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Take a look at the tower my castle has, that's all light blue wool up top. So yeah, I get what a pain it is to use dyed wool in any great amount when building.

If he adds dragons I'll just add an outer later of cobblestone and increase the thickness of the glass to make it even.

I have got it now, and my post count per day is feeling it. I've been on it about 4 hours, not even a teeny bit bored. This is one heck of a game, an nearly as good as 40k (to me).
If I hadn't spent so much time and money on 40k ,it might well have overtaken it.

Sand is the one resource I don't have in abundance. I've got a 32 megabyte save and only one desert biome WAAAAY over on the other edge of the map. It's most of a day to get there and most of a day to get back, which means if I want sand it's a good three+ day excursion to get it. Makes glass and sandstone sort of a commodity for me.

My map had nothing other than sand and water. I had to swim to another island about a 30 second swim away and build it up near me. been playing about 2 hours and I already have a mine, an observatory, a secret lair, a pool, a farm, an emergensy escape route, a sunroof, on a small island with a narrow bridge on it, all connected underground.

well my spire of doom is complete, and so i dont get lost anymore i put lava on the roof of my tower. it also did a good job of filling my moat which im now thinking of turning into a giant lava trap.
Sadly, the people on the minecraft forums weren't much help on my question. They recommended two pieces of freeware which weren't really free and weren't really editors... mostly just recorders.

I'm gonna have that as my escape route lair to hide out until day arrives...
Thanks for the video link, it really helped me get what this game is! The game must be crazy addictive... since I just skimmed the videos up to episode 18 or so
It is very addictive indeed. It's not just a creativity toy like Gary's Mod, it's one that challenges you and makes you EARN your materials.

it would be sooo cool if they added in building construction like they had in the MMORPG Horizons.
basically you picked buildings/ decoraions you wanted to build and got a top down viewer to place them. once everything was placed it would show scaffolding or stuff to show building was in progress. you then had to collect certain amounts of materials to finish the construction.
a house required x amounts of wood, stone and other building materials. the larger or more complex the more materials and better quality would be needed.
a basic house might use cobblestone, but a larer house might require smooth stone.
i would keep the method of building we have now stay but this would be a cool way to add unique things into the game, plus it would make building towns muuuch easier..

Uhm. So basically you want them to do all the work for you?
I can understand wanting them to add in more buildable furniture (what with us only having a bed) but that's just lazy.

no im saying i would think it would be fun to have a way to build more detailed buildings.
the other option than just gathering the materials would be that they could provide a wireframe of the finished building and you just insert your blocks of your desired material. i think that would be acceptable especally for people who might not be great at designing stuff.
Uhm... if youwant to build more detailed buildings... try building more detailed buildings?
one can use wooden or stone slabs to create a scaffolding that they can take down later.

I think the idea of minecraft is to avoid the cookie cutter world which other games force upon you. Yes, it does mean using your own imagination or spending hours planning out how a building will look with the materials you have, but that is supposed to be part of the fun. I can see how a lot of gamers would love the addition of wire frame models ready for you to build around them, but it's not really what Minecraft is, or what it was designed for.
If you want some cool models to work from, lots of people on the minecraft forums post up copies of the worlds they have created for others to play on. Try scouting around for some worlds that sound fun, and you can start from their pre fabricated world and start building more and greater things around and about
I would really appreciate a compass that points North, instead of towards the spawn point, especially if the spawn point is going to become a variable position.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

I believe clouds always move North... I know that doesn't help underground, but you can always come back to the surface from time to time... Thinking about it, that's a really good idea.
I really really hate sheep right now, I'm trying to make a purple carpet for my new castle thing but I just can't find enough of the bleating little buggers.

Make a mob farm. Enclose an area to make it safe from hostiles. Make sure the ground is covered in grass and put out lots of torches to keep the light level up. Then wait for mobs to spawn. When they do kill everything that's not a sheep, dye the sheep then kill them. By constantly killing them over and over you'll force the area to repopulate. No guarantee you'll get sheep but by forcing the repopulation you'll generate more wool than just waiting for it to happen naturally.

Had a zombie infestation last night, was able to drive them all off and built some torch pillars in my underground lair to keep them at bay. Torch pillars look like crap, so I decided to start casting a portal so I can get some glowstone. One more trip to the local lava-lake and I'll have enough to light that sucker up.

I have one of these in my main area, it's nice, but I have a TON of porkchops sitting around.
