well i just grabbed the new codex over the weekend and im trying to figure out how to buy minimum models and field a list. i used to play 5*3 rangers and 2*3 pathfinders but obviously thats impossible now.

After a quick glance at the list it seemed more viable to just randomly rush forward attempting to take out anything that might be a threat to your charge so I came up with this.

guardian squads with star cannons just don't seem as appealing with 2 shots so i didn't bother with any. I figured 20 snipers should be able to deal with big things. The list cant really handle mass except is cc so tanks have to be shot at along with heavy countercharge units by which point my big things can go in. It does seem like a waste of firepower to underequip the wl's but it seems too expensive otherwise. I can see this list working and I can see it flopping. Basically i'm really confused about it. Previously I stocked up on star cannons to deal with 'elite mass' but really at 2 shots it doesn't seem good. A farseer is of couse useful either with the odd guide or fortune or something to help certain units reach but again i don't know what to cut.

Personnally myself I'd find the points to upgrade your two other ranger squads to pathfinders. This might be the help your looking for in taking out "elite mass".

If you can also bump them up to squads of 6 as the squad earns you VP a lot more.

Your harlequins don't seems to have many toys I'd at least equip them with some kisses.

You could free up some points for these changes by dropping the vypers and swapping the avatar for an autarch (on a bike with fusion gun for tank hunting killyness and lance with mandiblasters) or farseer (Dooming a unit that your pathfinders are shooting at may be very deadly).

Just some ideas from another new to eldar player.

 

If you can find the points I'd try and get another falcon in there as they just sound too good not to.

Also brightlance is a poor choice for a falcon. It can't shoot at the same time as the pulse laser if the vehicle moves over 6" (which you need to do every turn), and on a BS3 vehicle that's too many points to pay for something that will miss half the time.
