Now here's my thinking. After normal deployment I'll only have my Captain on a Bike with his gang, and then I'll start laying down the rest of my army. So I'll have the optimum chance of positioning my infiltrating guys.
Every mission will have the Devastators and the Scouts infiltrating. The Tac Squads will vary from mission to mission. Sometimes I'll want them as the standard Las/Plas squads, sometimes I'll need them closer in but with extra Flamers or Plasmas/Meltas. Or if I feel like it I could Drop Pod them with the extra Special Weaponry and wreak rear-line havoc.
I had a hard time figuring out the darn HQ. I was settling on a Jump Pack Librarian when I remembered my Bike List, so I plopped in a Captain and gave him a bike and a decent squad. They're mobile, they're quite shooty, and they'll probably rush into assault just so they'd stop getting shot at so much.
It's a bit cheesy, especially since I'm going up against friends, but hey, screw 'em! We're all learning the finer points of the game and army composition means a lot more than just weapon systems.
However, I'm not introducing the variability just so I could be crazy. Rather they're just options for when the special rules aren't going to come into account, so I'll have backup army lists without changing the overall composition. I just need to bring in extra special weapon marines and Drop Pods.
I plan on moving in close and getting the most out of the rapid firing weaponry, and I do have some fluff worked out for this unit as well.
Please let me know what you think!
