ok so I'd like any advice I could get on this as the topic says its an 1850 list for a rogue trader tourney at my local store hq Farseer spirit stones fortune doom(attached to dire avengers) Autarch, jetbike, mandiblaster, laser lance(attached to shining spears) elites 10xStriking scorpions, exarch, scorpions claw, shadowstrike, stalker 5xWraithguard, warlock w/ehance, wave serpent wave serpent is with twl starcannons, shuricannon upgrade, and vectored engines 10xDire avengers, exarch bladestorm, defend, 2nd shuricat 20xGuardians, warlock, conceal, scatterlaser 4xShining spears, exarch, starlance, withdraw skilled rider wraithlord w/starcannon 4xDark reapers w/ fast shot and EML Fire prism with holo fields I know that there will be a mostly mech space wolves army with some drop pods and scouts in reserves, an ig infantry army, and another eldar army there atleast. I'd appreciate any help because while I'm pretty good with rules and such I'm still pretty new to actually playing the game on one other note for adding or trading out models all I really have atm is a few more warlocks, 10 ranger minis, a few more wraithguard, another wraithlord, and a squad of swooping hawks than need put together

Why 20 Guardians? Seems a bit excessive. The DA's need a serpent, but you don't appear to have one available Spirit stones on the prism should also be mandatory

hmm well could switch the wraithguard with the avengers, if I drop the guardians to 10 and take the wraithguard to 7, march the guardians, wraithguard, and the lord in a group, and use the avengers in a tactic like tau with transports, and that leaves me with a few points to play with, the other thought is drop the wraithgaurd completely for some pathfinders

ok so after some thinking and a bit of editing heres what I'm looking at hq unchanged 1 farseer etc. 1 autarch etc. elites striking scorpions unchanged wraithguard, give the warlock a singing spear wave serpent, vectored engines, shuricannon upg, added spirit stones, switched main weapon to twl Bright lance (have a forgeworld starcannon and a fw bright lance turret for this, also have a falcon turret without a secondary weapon attached yet floating around) troops, dire avengers unchanged guardians, dropped to 10, warlock w/ conceal, added singing spear, and still going with scatterlaser fast attack same 4x shining spears unchanged heavy support going to give the wraithlord a brightlance as well as the starcannon fire prism holofields, spirit stones dark reapers unchanged

Wraithlords really benefit from force multiplication, since only certain weapons are really effective against them. I'd consider switching the Reapers (which tend to get massacred as soon as your opponent realizes what they are) for another WL -- then you can try the hammer-n-anvil approach.
Hammer: Shining Spears, Scorps, Wraithguard, Fire Prism Anvil: 2x Wraithlords, Guardians, Dire Avengers.
Your Hammer denies a flank and hangs back behind cover, or launches a first-turn assault. The Hammer is all units which can move-n-fire, so they can advance steadily up, and arrive to back up the hammer, or, if the hammer hung back, arrive in concert. Wraithlords + Dire Avengers makes a fierce CC combo, by the way...the DAs to distract PF wielders and reduce attacks while the huge, mean wraithlords carve through the rest.

Oh, and if you have another Guardian platform, you could use two squads of ten, each with a Warlock...that would give you some numerical cushion.

The wraithguard are a bodyguard for the farseer (and he keeps them and the wraithlord moving) and insurance against rear area drops. DA's need a wave serpent.

Gotta agree w/Flavius. Dire Avengers are extremely squishy without a transport, but Concealed/Fortuned Wraithguard are pretty hard from what I've heard. Much better to march the T6, 3+/5++ boys up the field than the T3, 4+ ones.

ok so I'm kinda torn, I like the last incarnation, but after playing with the points heres what I've come up with, and I've tried and cant seem to sqeeze in a second squad of gaurdians, so I've padded the first, well could but I'd have to drop a model or two from diff squads to fit in the 10+warlock, and I dont think its worth them to field them without the warlock, though I am debating cutting their numbers a bit to add guide to the farseer, though I've got most of my heavy weapons on bs 4 units, except for the wave serpent so guide is less vital though it can certainly help in the end I'tll probably be a toss up between this, and the one following that has the reapers double wraithlord hq Farseer spirit stones fortune doom(attached to gaurdians) Autarch, jetbike, mandiblaster, laser lance(attached to shining spears) elites 10xStriking scorpions, exarch, scorpions claw, shadowstrike, stalker 5xWraithguard, warlock conceal singing spear spirit seer 10xDire avengers, exarch bladestorm, defend, 2nd shuricat, wave serpent wave serpent is with twl bright lances, shuricannon upgrade, and vectored engines, spirit stones 17xGuardians, warlock, conceal, 4xShining spears, exarch, starlance, withdraw skilled rider wraithlord w/starcannon, brightlance wraithlord w/starcannon, scatterlaser Fire prism with holo fields, spirit stones w/ reapers hq (same) Farseer spirit stones fortune doom(attached to dire avengers) Autarch, jetbike, mandiblaster, laser lance(attached to shining spears) elites 10xStriking scorpions, exarch, scorpions claw, shadowstrike, stalker 5xWraithguard, warlock w/ehance, singing spear, wave serpent wave serpent is with twl bright lances, shuricannon upgrade, vectored engines, spirit stones 10xDire avengers, exarch bladestorm, defend, 2nd shuricat 10xGuardians, warlock, conceal, singing spear, scatterlaser 4xShining spears, exarch, starlance, withdraw skilled rider wraithlord w/starcannon and bright lance 4xDark reapers w/ fast shot and EML Fire prism with holo fields and spirit stones on the one side I would like the wraithguard in a transport so they can get close enough to use the wratihcannons, those things are ungodly vs pretty much anything except invulerable saves, though after running the numbers doing the eldar version of fish of fury, (snakes on a plane I think?) is just downright nasty with guide and doom involved

If you need a few extra points, wraithguard squads can go smaller than 5. Dropping one will not significantly decrease their effectiveness as a bodyguard and security unit.
