While I love the review, the portion about the miniatures seems a little lacking in my eyes. The only thing the authors keep talking about is the painting, painting, painting. While I agree that its par for the course for pre-painted figs, I think we seem to be missing the whole point of miniatures in the first place. Do they look cool?
As for the therians, They look sort of uninspired if you ask me. They really just look like necrons with claws and arm blasters. They aren't even in any interesting poses. People have been bashing GW for putting out static models, but thats all these are and I haven't heard a single peep about it. Sure they're painted, yay, they are boring. The Big Wraith on the other hand looks awesome, but its a shame they couldn't find a better way to mount it to the base then with a big peg.
As for the White Stars, they suffer the same problem as the therions. Their poses are just sort of flat. Plus not a single one of them is sighting with their rifle. They would look ten times cooler if at least one of them had his gun shouldered blasting away. The GW Kasrkin are an immediate example of cool armored humans blasting away with lazer gunz that comes to mind. The fire toad's camo looks awesome though, and for pose, there isn't really much more you can get out of it, so its fine.
But seriously, the Therian and White Star infantry are just sort of bland, static poses, with uninteresting weapons that don't really do it for me, painted or not.
