Just curious, as I would like to throw my COD stuff down on a WM table, but dont have access to rules so that I may decide what role terrain plays in WM?

Thoughts?

Pretty much the same as it does in 40K and WHFB.

I would say the biggest thing about terrain is "rough terrain." Since it reduces movement, it prevents charging unless you have a special rule that ignores rough terrain.

All problems can be solved with proper use of a high powered rifle and a water tower

Terrain is pretty huge. Rough Terrain, cover, etc. are all pretty essential elements, especially as it's played on a 4x4 table. Units/solos/jacks that advance deploy, or have 'pathfinder', 'stealth' or 'all-terrain' (different rules that allow you to traverse rough terrain more easily, set up further afield or otherwise benefit from cover more effectively) become killer because of this.

I don't think you see a lot of buildings per se; perhaps one or two, and some ruins, but I don't see why you couldn't do a WH cityfight game (I've seen a few city tables in fact).

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

CoD stuff could be cool. Elevation can be a big component in WM. It effects LOS, Defense, and can cause damage if you fall (lots if you're high up!).

ahhh so WM is considerably more 3 dimensional when concerning terrain. Brilliant.

Well, open fields favor shooting and rush combat. Difficult terrain favors all-terrain and pathfinders. Elevation, cover, and concealment also play a potentially large role.

In Hordes, terrain is even more important thanks to the proliferation of abilities that work off terrain (especially Circle and Legion).

Not to mention the huge amount of throwing that usually goes on in Hordes... throwing models off or into terrain can cause alot of damage

I need to build some cliffs where the models can fall down from....

I thin the CoD buildings are a bit too sci-fi for the iron kingdoms, but Mordtheim Buildings should work out quite nicely.

Terrain is very important. Especially size. WM terrain is generally smaller than Warhammer and 40k terrain. 4x6 to 6x6 are about the right size.
