I think its probably the same on both sides. There's a few missions that seem to have inverted the triangles so I think they'd need to be.
Oh, are we pretending that the minuscule differences in those shapes are a noticeable balancing factor? Alright then. I guess in that case it makes sense to have the same print on each side, even if it's a wasted opportunity and totally lame.

I don't disagree, just what I'm expecting. The triangles are fairly significantly different (4.5") so it definitely matters but I'm not entirely convinced it SHOULD and having different styles on each side would be significantly more useful. I'm guessing we'll see a new set each year with the latest campaign them though. Automatically Appended Next Post: Space Marine detachments up. Can't say I'm instantly in love with the design, but part of that is how disorganized its gotten with all of the chapter specific detachments. The thing that initially got to me was the lack of 2 DP design, though that seems largely because they beta tested it with that last drop of detachments.
What it means, that I find disappointing, is that it looks like this feature is basically just that there's no design difference between 3 DP and 2 DP. It looks like its just a matter of slapping 3 DP on the competitive stuff and letting players augment the weaker options with some very narrow 1 DP bonuses. It's functional, but definitely not taking advantage of the potential this system has.
Also as a personal gripe; the only Deathwatch detachment being 3 DP locks me out of my preferred 1k games. They even nerfed the main thing that made it work (in a way that should have been done immediately).

So the Warhammer 40K: Core Rules are $24.99, but the Chapter Approved Mission Deck is $34.99?
Ugh.

The core rules are also free online. If they priced them too aggressively, they would not move.

Aside from switching some characters to support and deleting a few instances of AIRCRAFT (called it!), did much else change? It's hard to tell since the Balance Dataslate changes are rolled in.
Also, I'm slightly amused that Emperor's Children still can't take any Heresy-era units.

EC probably won't get Heresy stuff, but this batch of rules only applies to loyalist marines.
There's not a lot of changes from what I can tell. They fixed the Watch Master's second source of free CP but I don't see any changes to things like Plasma Pistols or anything like that.

I just want to play, and every time I turn around, I need another thing. Codexes, so I can just learn how my army plays that get replaced in a few months, new Mission cards ect. Are there any Community Resources that have information on these things that I can use instead of having to pay another $200 so I can just start playing? are codexs is necessary for me to actually learn how to play my army? Like, basically a free ork codex for just rules made by the community, so I don't have to buy one that gets outdated in just a few months? Automatically Appended Next Post: I was kind of hoping the new orc codexs would come out sooner than later, but I was planning on starting to really get into playing the game this summer, and don't want to have to spend $140 in a single year just for rules.

There are a few places out there with the information from the codexes. One was mentioned in this thread not far back. There are also a number of list builders, like new recruit, that might not have 100% of the army rules, but would have enough for you to test out some lists and get some basic games in. Some stores/clubs also might have libraries of books to borrow.

The Armageddon box itself has the cards for the units in it to play. Beyond that New Recruit is a good free resource and a lot of people use Wahapedia. Definitely wouldn't pick up the current codex if you're just getting started. It will absolutely get a refresh soon.

Have GW hinted at how quickly the codexes will be released for 11th? I'm assuming it will be a similar release schedule to 10th, so all 11th codexes will be out in about 2 years.
Depending on when a particular codex is released ( GW aren't going to announce the entire order of releases now) if you buy one now it could last you 2 years. Which isn't a massive amount of time but about as long as any codex gets these days.

The stupid Warhammer 40,000 companion app won't let me see data sheets without having a codex. So I just built my list in there and then exported the text into a Google doc and then used that to rebuild my list in new recruit, which is way better than the companion app! Given they're in the big box, SM and Orks are most likely going to be the first two 'dex books released.
If we look at the release dates for various books during the early days of 8/9/10th editions, the latest the launch box factions have their books is October.
I don't recall Grey Knights being as early in the edition as listed on that page, though, but it has been a few years now.

Sorry, for some reason I didn't figure out we were talking about the Ork codex specifically. I agree that it will be either the first or second codex to be released in 11th, simply because they're one of the factions in the launch box.
I certainly wouldn't spend money on a 10th edition Ork codex now. Even a second hand one will be a lot cheaper when the 11th codex launches.
