Hey all,

So loyalist termies didn't work out in the manner that I'd hoped; units of powerfists really are terrible in assault!  I felt like making an assaulty terminator list, which fits best with chaos, specifically, Slaanesh.  Here's what I was thinking:

HQ: 885

Lord-Terminator armor, dark blade, drugs, mutation, power weapon, spikey bits, mark of slaanesh, doom seiren/190

Retinue: 5 Chosen Terminators-2 combi-meltas, Mark, furious charge, Aspiring Champion: Pair of Lightning claws, mutation/280

Lieutenant-Terminator, Pair of Lightning Claws, Mutation, Mark, Strength/135

Retinue: 5 Chosen Terminators-2 combi-meltas, Mark, furious charge, Aspiring Champion: Pair of Lightning claws, mutation/280

ELITES: 314

6 Chosen Terminators-2 blastmasters, tank hunters, Aspiring Champion: Pair of Lightning Claws, Mutation/314

TROOPS: 270

6 Daemonettes90

6 Daemonettes/90

6 Daemonettes/90

My points may be a little off, I'm at work so have no codex; but that's the general idea and the only thing that might change because of points would be the lord.  Going up in points (1750 is the tourney standard these days?) I think that I'd cut one of the squads of demons and add 6 mounted 'nettes and bump the rest up to units of 12.  That should cover all my spare points.  Questions and comments appreciated!

cheers

Alright, to business though. Like what I see, but some issues:
ONE - Why a power weapon on the lord? S/He can take a CCW and get +1A with the dark blade, for 14 points less. Perhaps you're so afraid of demon weapon mastery tests that you wanted an alternative weapon?
TWO - The lord and lt. need furious charge too, if their retinues have it.
THREE - Good tankhunting blastmaster squad, but no blastmasters on the HQ squads? Totally up to you, but you have to plan for the games when you can't deep strike into happy 12" melta range. Given how many points 2 blastmasters set you back - 40! - I can see why you would forgo it.
FOUR - Look into at least one fist per terminator squad. That's only a minimum of 2 pfist attaks, but the higher strength will be vital against big bad things that your terminators will have to tackle. Really, I'd suggest 2 fists per squad, for 30 points total (the blastmaster points better spent IMHO).

Otherwise demons look good, and your plan to add some mounted girls is a great one, again for those times when you're walking or more ideally to summon off of your ranged tankhunter squad and zip in for the kill.

Its probably more to do with loyalist terminators not having CCW option. The difference screwes people up sometimes.

Agree with boss on all counts, except I'd take a chainfist over a powerfist. An extra umph against armor will come in handy.

More personal preference but I'd strip some stuff and try and fit in a mounted daemonette unit (losing one daemonette squad + losing some wargear and vet skills). Be nice to have atleast one unit that can reach out and tie up nasty units.

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

I would second the suggestion of powerfists in each squad. However, I'd say put them on the champ, and purchase a CCW from the armory. That gives you 4 fist attacks at a much cheaper price.

On chainfists, I would always take CF over PF - for aesthetic concerns, as well as anti-armor work - but was trying to keep the points a bit down.

On powerfisting champs, that was my first thought, but I decided against it as I figured Ether might want the twin lightning claw champs for modeling / aesthetic reasons. 5 lightning claw attaks @ "I5" aren't something to be sneezed at either, though 5 powerfist attaks work too in a pinch

I think otherwise I'd need to see how points breakdown before suggesting cutting fat to make room for zoomy girls and such. That said, really only the lord has excessive kit in my mind, and what he has is quite fluffy and nicely Slaaneshi (drugs, doom siren, etc). Cutting that might add in game power to another part of the list, but would hurt some of the flare I think. Depends on where Ether is headed, I guess ...

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I don't mind cutting slaaneshi fluff for effectiveness, but superlords of doom seem to be the name of the game when it comes to chaos lists. Or am I missing something? Oh, and winterman hit the nail on the head; I'm used to loyalist termies who have no combat weapons in terminator armor.

About lightning claws/p fists: I'd like to avoid fists for a couple of reasons, the first is that I'm not too into a giant love glove that crushes guys modeling-wise. Also, going at initiative 1 means that the termies are vulnerable to anything with power weapons that goes before them. I could see swapping out two PWs for chain fists on all of the squads which would up my anti-armor (kinda) and get that anti-big bug action happening.

Keep it coming!

Remember that you can do a claw and a fist on a champ if you want versatility :-)
