Master of ravenwing on speeder

6 Bikes, Power weapon, 2 melta gun, attack bike with multi melta, assault cannon speeder

6 Bikes, Power weapon, 2 melta gun, attack bike with multi melta, assault cannon speeder

3 Bikes, Power Weapon, melta gun

Assault speeder

Assault speeder

Predator with sponson heavy bolters

Predator with sponson heavy bolters

Predator with sponson heavy bolters

I think this might work.  The predators at 95 points are a steal.  This army also have 6 speeders all counting as individual units, one of which is a 14/14 speeder.

What are your thoughts?

I like it... But with all these bikes you really need the ravenwing- company banner for 25 points you can give all these bikers a extra attack.. (if the stay 12 inch from each other).. also i would give the 6 bikers squads a Powerfist-sergeant instead of a powersword...

Lot of players make units to expensive and I like the way you keep the predators cheap...

There isn't enough points to give each of the vets power fists. Beside, the bikes are all going to run in small squads of 3, so a power fist vet might not even get to swing if the enemy has enough attacks to kill all 3 bikers.

Consider the following opinions:

1)  Sammael on jetbike, not LS.  14 armor is choice, but that guy is tough as nails without subjecting him to vehicle rules (shakens/stuns) on his bike.

2)  dropping the meltaguns (50 points) and powerweapons (30 points) and adding another attack bike w/ multimlta (50 points) to the small bike squad and storm bolters/dozer blades(30 points) to the preds.  Adds firepower and keeps 'em moving in terrain where only glancing hits occur.

[sarcasm mode]

Dropping a few bikesquads will make you able to take some las/plas-squads, to bolster antitank...

[/sarcasm mode]

If you drop the PW the CC is entirely gone. LKeep the pw and the melta's, as you might need to pop a dread before he reaches combat, or maybe you have a meq opponent that you need to face in cc (necrons...)

I personally would rather drop a pred, get extra armour for the others and get some more bikes (or the extra attack bike...)

I personally would pull the small squad of bikes and a predator to get a terminator squad with a flamer, that will let you use the 1st turn deep strike and use a flamer to take out any cover huggers like eldar rangers, and more hand to hand I personally like the 3 lightning claw, 1 thunder hammer, 1 heavy flamer, its nice and cheap.

The first turn deep strike is nice, but it's rather risky considering the small number of models your fielding with this list. I see the scout move with the bikes as more of a 12" reposition, rather than a 12" to get in range and hope for first turn.

The reasons that the predators are a good buy is the fact that they are 95 points, when you add in the extra armor, they lose on the cost/benefit ratio.

I do like the idea of adding dozer blades to the predators and perphaps only taking 2. There is nothing worse than immobolizing your own tank.

As for Sammael, the jet bike just isn't going to do enough damage to justify his cost. I guess he is another HtH threat, but having only a 3+ save, volum of fire will be able to drop him with out too much trouble, especially since he is not an independent character.

105 point preds are just as good as 95 point preds.  Adding firepower and impunity from immobilizations for 10 points per pred is preserving cost/benefit ratio.  Three preds are so much better than two!  Keep 'em all!

I was under the impession that you would be using the bikes/speeders maneuverability to stay OUT of close combat range due to your LOW model count.  Meltaguns 12" range prevents you from doing this.  I envisioned your army concentrating lightning fast raids on flanks of opponent's army using the 12" move and 24" range of your guns to full efficiency/effect.  Only closing the distance to maximize your firepower when finishing off squads.

Have fun with your army, it looks like a fun list to play.

uhh extra armor for Dark angles cost 15 points. How are you adding fire power by having extra armor? Dozer blade doesn't make you immune to immobilization, it just gives you a better chance at moving through difficult terrain.

Bolters just aren't going to cut it in a fire fight, especially if your taking single shots at 24".

I hope it would be fun, but I have my doubts as to how successful this would be.

I never mentioned extra armor, Will.  The pintle storm bolter adds firepower.
In fact, if you are running the preds with heavy bolters, then I must say the pintle-storm bolter is a must have.  100 points for a tank that can move and fire all 10 shots is the epitome of cost effectiveness.  As far as the dozerblade, in all my years of gaming, I cannot remember rolling two 1's in a row for terrain.  Lucky me I guess.

If you don't think that 15+ twin-linked bolters that can move 12" and fire can "cut it" in a fire fight SUPPORTED by 4 assault cannons, 10 heavy bolters, 3 multi-meltas that can also move 12" and fire, then there is no sense arguing about it.

Anytime you play a cool list like the one you have, it is going to be fun. If you run your list into close combat, I feel it will NOT be successful.  However, if you use it wisely utilizing hit and run and concentrating your firepower on pieces of the enemy as opposed to attacking on a broad front and staying out of close combat for the first three turns, you will see those 24" guns of yours taking their toll on your opponent.  Just my opinion.

Unless they change the points in the DA codex, pintel storm bolters are 10 points.

I see what your saying, but you're never going to have all 15 bolters trained on the same target, sorry I don't think 15 bolters can cut it by them selves. They are their to add bonus fire to the bikes, but I certainly won't depend on them to win me the game.

It is almost impossible to not get into HtH at some point in the game. The power weapons aren't there so that I can run into HtH, its there in case I get caught into HtH. Also, if I get a chance to assault some crisis suits, having a power weapons is going to make a huge difference.

They did. They are 5 points.
