Beginning jetbike assembly:

Sliced the ridges off the bottom of the foot plate:

Added a couple of side panels:

And some vent pieces:

And then glued it onto the chassis, added the landspeeder jet and panelled up the bottom:

A bit of bulking out and evening up on the Dreadnought's hood. Once that's set, I can smooth it down and add the detail layer.

I'm starting with a slightly butchered female blank:

First layer of putty... gave her a corset. Or the front of one, anyway:

That looks really cool, but as it stands, the dread doesn't look... boxy... enough.

Well, Pre-Heresy Dreads were decidedly un-boxy looking...

It's not meant to be boxy. It's based on the artwork for preheresy Dreads from the Horus Heresy card game. So the end result is supposed to be something vaguely like this.

Bulked out the other foot, and added a hinge for the 'toes' to bend:

And extended the 'hood' back over the shoulders.

Extending the hood of the dread back over it shoulders just made an awesome thing 10 times better

I am so impressed with this work.

Ok, now that the rain has stopped and the house is no longer in danger of being washed down the hill... I found some time to get some more putty on this little lady.

Finished shaping the left shinguard and boot (still needs a sole), added a rim to the top of the thigh armour, and started on the breastplate and collar.

They were made by a little australian company that I did some photography for a few years ago... I don't think they ever actually released them, though.

Also did some more on the jetbike: added the plating on the bottom of the beak, and 'feather' details on the side of the head:

And started on a tail:

At this point, it seemed like a good idea to figure out the wings... There are two options I can see here, and I'm a little undecided as to which looks better...

The first looks to me more 'robot-eagle-y'... which the second looks more 'jetbike with eagle bits'...

I vote for option 2 though.
Its still suppose to be a jetbike, not a plane. And as far as we know, speeders can do without huge wings, little stubs will do just fine.

The folded design also adds the feeling of speed ... yanno, like an eagle diving for its prey?!

Absolutely great work so far. That dread is coming along nicely!

I'll second folding wing.

Looks great - the wide out wing make it look like a silly plane IMO - the folded wing fits with the jetbike feel well.
