SoB squad with VSS carrying the Book are forced to make a morale check inside the effective range of Pariahs.

Pariahs reduce all leadership to 7 unless it is lower. BoSL allows Leadership check based on unmodified Leadership.

So what is the SoBs Leadership?

1. Leadership 7 - because base leadership is reduced to  7 (no modifiers for outnumbering, under half are applied)

2. Leadership 10 - because the move to Ld 7 is itself a modifier.

Thoughts?

With the Book of St. Lucius, any friendly unit with a model within 6 inches may use the bearer's unmodified Leadership value for any morale checks or pinning tests. As long as the affected unit is within 6 inches of ANOTHER unit with a BoSL. The unit cannot use its own BoSL for its own Leadership checks. I am assuming that the Pariahs modify the Leadership test to seven and this is based on a Canoness with a BoSL. Other checks like resolving after hand to hand get to use this benefit as well. For 5 pts its probably the best point value buy in the game. But the drawback is that a second unit with a VSS has to have a BoSL.

So assuming there is another unit with the BoSL within 6", is the SoBs Leadership:

1. Leadership 7 - with no modifiers for outnumbering, under half; or

2. Leadership 10 - the Pariah rule is considered a "modifier"

Err, no... The leadership value of that unit is 7.  They just get to roll against thier unmodified leadership for situations the book pertains to, such as morale and pinning.  Anything not covered by the book would be resolved at leadership 7.

The book doesn't prevent your leadership from being modified, it just confers the ability to roll against unmodified leadership in certain situations.
