"The Company (GW) received notification on 28 February 2007 that Phoenix Asset Management Partners Limited has an interest in 4,405,419 ordinary shares of 5 pence each, representing 14.16 per cent. of the Company's voting rights."
It is the second, after further digging.

Having browsed their website, my guess is either they think GW is currently undervalued, or they are planning to sell short. If they truly follow a Buffet model, I'd go with undervalued.

it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

GW might well be undervalued if you consider that the value would increase dramatically should GW receive new management. But, barring that, I really don't know what their agenda is. I also don't see them selling short unless they expect GW stock to stop it's long slide and suddenly free-fall into the penny stock listings.

they are building there holdings in GW as of march 2006 they had a bunch of gw shares already and this moves probally pushes them to the 25% range. If GW continues to struggle they will probaly keep buying hoping to swoop in and sell off bits of the company to get their money back. If the share prices stay stagnant around the 400p range they will sell it all off and walk away with a small profit.

You don't need to buy actual shares to "sell short" you need options. If these guys are buying then it makes me think that they want some sort of influence in the company or perhaps, as was mentioned, they think it is undervalued

Given GW's property, I'd say undervalued. The question is, does this bode well or ill for the small time investors among us?

If GW goes private, then they'd be being back shares at a premium too. I think that's also possible in the near future.

I hearby swear to you, my fellow gamers, that if I win the $200 million powerball, I too will become a major shareholder, and personally apply my size 12 boots to the backsides of GW management as they head out the door. I will then immediately hire Ed Maule as Head of the Rules Are Now Terrific (RANT) Department.

Undervalued? Sell short? Options vs. shares? Somebody explain this in terms of gaming, please! Anything you can do to help me will be appreciated. Something along the lines of "Imagine you have a mob of trukk boyz. Each boy is a share, the guy driving the trukk is the option."

I seriously can think of it getting any worse. Atleast I have fun playing clix games, where as I almost always come away having a headache trying to play a rational game of 40K.

Alternatively they could make every army appealing and at least marginally balanced, and then sell the models for reasonable prices.

No from a business perspective that would be foolish. You have multiple non-productive lines currently (not counting WFB). After a takeover you'd likely see the ork, DE, and specialist games fall away. You might see a better intro game that can get into larger retailers though. Frankly this market is too niche and subject to technology risk. I wouldn't touch it.
