Reading the Raven Wing entry for speeders i have a question.

It reads For xx points i get 1 speeder with Heavy bolter.

Then under options i can exchange the heavy bolter witha MM for free.

NOW...

It says also that -ONE- speeder may upgrade witha heavy flamer or Assault cannon for xx points.

SO my question (i know long road here now hush!)

If my squadron is only 1 speeder. Does that speeder count as the ONE that may upgrade to carry an assualt cannon?

read the whole entry it is pretty self explanatory

if you take a support squad you can take 3 regulars 1 typhoon and 1 tempest max but if you only choose to take 1 it can be any iof those variants as long as you don't exceed its lmitations.
