OK, inspired by Migsula's excellent painting, I've been giving some thought to going Eldar again.  I'll be experimenting with a few different list styles -- infantry-skimmer, bike-skimmer, and infantry-heavy.  I like the new Codex now that I've bought it, it makes a lot of different list types very flexible.

The following list is designed to be adaptable at 1,000 pts, and is also convienient -- it can be built by buying two Battleforces, a Farseer, a box of Storm Guardians, and a Warlock.

I need to trim 50 pts off it -- suggestions for that would be welcome.

In a basic battle plan, I'd have the Avengers and Storm Guardians hang back, then zip forward on one flank.  The Farseer would either go with them, or support the firebase of Guardian Squads and the War Walkers with his psychic powers.  I considered Jetbiking him so he wouldn't have to hunker in a Serpent -- but I'm already low on points.  Thoughts/suggestions?  I'm new to the new codex of Eldar, though I played a good deal with the old one.

50pts is tough. Though actually, I think you might be fine dropping Guide and Spiritstones from the Farseer. As it stands, about the only likely target for Guide is a Warwalker (fragile) or a Defender unit (only two StC shots anyway), which is hardly a large return on investment. Dire Avengers would be a good target, except that they're moving forward in a tank, and even if the Farseer rides with them, he can't cast the power on them before they disembark.

Doom, OTOH, provides excellent synergy with the DA or Storm Guardians, and its long range + not needing LOS means you should be able to cast it reliably on units the mobile stuff is about to hit. Doom would work even better for the Stormies if they were using Flamers, but I can understand wanting the FGs for more antitank.

You might also want to find him the points for a Spear. It's very handy if there are any vehicles near him.

Well, the Warlock already has a Spear, and the two will be paired with a squad with a pair of Fusion Guns, so...I figure that's plenty of antitank. My main concern with the farseer is that he will probably be in a transport for at least a turn or two -- is this a recipe for disastrous wastage or tactical errors? Or is it worth it to have him with the close-in Avengers and Storm Guardians to use his powers to good effect?

I was considering dropping Guide or Doom for Mind War -- useful just before an assault.

If the Farseer's going to ride in a tank, Mindwar may be a better choice. Even if he's riding with the Warlock and Storm squad, the Spear would be nice because he can detach when disembarking and shoot at a different target.

Personally, I LOVE Fortune and Doom, but the inability to cast them while riding in a tank (or on a unit in a tank) makes transporting a Farseer with those powers both a risk and a waste. At this point I usually run a Doom/Fortune seer on the ground with a big Harlie squad, re-rolling their invulnerables and casting Doom wherever he wants.

In your army, I was thinking he could even run on foot with a Spear and Doom, avoid getting shot thanks to being an IC, and still contribute with Doom due to its 24" range.
