Talisman is a board game, that can use a model to rep your dude. They made a few talisman blisters years ago, most of which sell for high premiums. Totally uneeded. Cardboard stand work just fine. This is a board game after all.

Descent is alot more like "warhammer quest" than it is like talisman. While descent is a board game as much as warhammer quest was, both of these game use tons of models and halls like space hulk for the dungeon crawl. These are more involded tactically, while talisman lacks tactics that you find with descent or warhammer quest.

Just cardboards, last I heard.

It's not going to be set in the Warhammer World, like 3rd edition was, but will go back to it's 1st/2nd edition roots. I'm excited, as it's really expensive to get the 2nd edition game on eBay, and I'm eager to check out this classic.

Prepare to be disappointed, I guess. Rick Priestley will be giving it a going-over to improve it a bit, but the impression I get is that it will be similar to 1st/2nd edition (presumably minus Space Marines, Astropaths, etc. from the Timescape expansion).

The only real difference was the rules and the way the Dragon's Tower expansion worked. I don't remember anything about the board itself ever changing between the various editions.

The Dragon's Tower expansion alone almost got me to buy the game. Almost... I had no money back then.
