Okay, I am debating this list for a 1500 pt tourney. I do not have the exact point costs but I think I am right around the 1500 pt range

Eldrad

Avatar

10 guardians with brightlance

10 guardians with brightlance

6 pathfinders

5 rangers

1 Fireprism

1 Fireprism

3 warwalkers with dual scatterlaser

6 harliequins with spiritseer and all kisses

5-6 warp spiders- I would like an exarch with the dual spinners.

Guardians just seem very good with the avatar and being fearless. They always seem to make their points back in some strategic way as no one gives them much thought anymore. The rangers can be used to block infiltrating in combination with Eldrads unit movement ability. If you get first infiltration put the rangers right in the middle of the board and cut off the enemys ability to infiltrate, then use Eldrad to move them back before the game. Eldrad can guide the warwalkers- taking out a unit of marines a turn, the fireprisms have nothing on them, but again, I think all the other stuff - holofield, vectored engines etc dont increase their effectiveness, just their survivability. You almost double the points of a fire prism with all the upgrades but any glancing blow ensures they dont get to dual shoot the following turn anyways, and lets face it, on a 6 its blown up, a 5 it crashes (unless vectored engines), a 4 the fireprism is gone so its worthless- anyways, I would rather take 2 for 230 points and you cant help but earn their points back. My biggest question was harlies or shining spears for counterassault? What do people think? Also, death jester or no?

i love the look on my opponents face when he's all happy that he got an immbolized result on my holofielded fire prism, when he says its crashes and is destroyed... ... especially right after that I chime in.. "unless I took vectored engines.. in which case even though I moved over 6, i gently settle to the ground AND I get to fire at you next turn"
60pts of upgrades may seem like a lot, but for the incredible survivability you get in return I think it more than pays for itself. I would ditch the rangers to pony up the points for those upgrades.

Yeah otherwise you've got a reasonably solid list.

The only problem I see with that is once you have landed safely, your opponent hits you with another lascannon shot and then penetrates and destroys the fireprism. With 5-6 man las/plas squads common in 1500 space marine lists its not like they usually have a shortage on lascannon shots.

I am not so sure about the Bright lances in the Guardian Squads. Chances are they will not hit much. I am still Iffy on the Avatar. Never tried the Prisms but hear good things. The Warwalkers are money. I use 2 dual scatter laser and 1 dual starcannon, sprinkle on some guide, magic. The only other way I would run them would be all dual scatter lasers.

burp.

I had a game against another eldar player where I spent 4 turns pouring the combined firepower of my entire army into a fire prism loaded up with all the toys.

thats

2 brightlances

2 starcannons

5 fire dragon fusion guns (on turn 7 I got to assault with them and that killed the fire prism)

1 witchblade (yeap I got mellee on it too, 2 turns worth)

Eldritch Storm

6 harlequins getting pistol shots on the back armor, plus assaulting 2 turns worth.

Now take all that and multiply it by 4. Thats a gross amount of firepower for a single vehicle to absorb and take 4 turns dedicated to kill.

With regard to the las/plas squads... hopefully you field more than just a single fire prism in 1500pts :p and hopefully you don't rush out in the open to greet those same marines.

In my last game my one fire prism killed 25% of all the infantry my opponent fielded. (Nothing makes me happier than deepstriking troops)

Your mileage may vary, (i had an entire tournament where the stupid bird didn't do anything)

Playtest both ways, you'll know for sure after you do that.

ok the upgrades on prisims and other eldar stuff are worth it it makes them spend more fire power on the prisims letting ur other units get into combat and the like
