I am rapidly running out of my crushed slate from the urban basing kits. I need alot more of this stuff, but dont have any idea where to find any. Evidentally, woodland scenics (their ballasts just dont have the same qualities) doesnt have this stuff, and I am not finding it anywhere.

Can anyone help me find some of this stuff?

The more varied the grade, the better.

Any landscaping supplier or tile store should have slate. Grab a few pieces and just take a hammer to it.

Might also be able to find some in pet stores for aquariums.

Any of these work?

The concrete rubble is no substitute for the crushed slate. It's the wrong texture and way to large.

I just received a PM from a very distinguished scholar who might be able to help me out.

Though, I think I may still need to go to the gravel pits to find some slate.

Thanks for the links, Ghaz, but I tried that. I was hoping someone might have known about model specific stuff that has been produced, but amazingly, it seems GW is the first to market gravel slate to people, rather than repackaging woodland scenics stuff at a proportional increase.

I just really like how GW did their slate basing tubs. Each tub was graded really well. *sigh* and of course gw has to make it is limited release....the darned goons.

If you will cover the shipping costs I'll send you as much roofing slate as you want, and then you can crush it to get just the effect you want. Granted, it's not as finely sorted as GW slate, but there is plenty of variation.

Specifically what color are you looking for? Blue, Green, Red?
