Playstyle and minis. Ask for a demo with various battlebox sets to get a hang of the movement/attack sequence. Here's an overview of the types of armies at the battle college. Battle College

The biggest thing I had trouble with moving from a long time GW player to a Privateer Press gamer was the turn sequence.
In PP games you move only one unit/model at a time, then do all it's combat actions, before moving the next model or unit. This messed with my head a lot as I would try to move all my guys at once (ala the GW movement phase), then do all their combat actions at once.

Well thanks to certain people I've gone and picked up a copy of the Prime Remix book (and at $25 it's a steal), thanks for the link Hellfury, that's definitely helpful as I'm showing some of the guys in my gaming group what the game and factions are about.

Heh, He thought I was you, malfred.
I think the question is no longer "who is the real Malfred?" but "who is the real Hellfury?"
Regardless, that is a very cool link, Malf.

Aww hell, sorry Malfred. Damned avatars.
On another question that's somewhat related to the thread, I'm going through the factions looking at models though I haven't read/understand the rules yet and I haven't gone completely into the fluff yet, but I'm trying to see which faction I may like to start.
Cygnar - I'm a sucker for good guys, but I heard they were shooty and as I'm near 5k points of completely painted Ultras, I've done enough blue and gold for a LONG time, no matter how much I love the colors. So they seem out.
Cryx - I'm painting Necrons right now, I dunno if I want more undead. Plus a lot of their stuff is a little light on the jack end and I really like the way the jacks look all armored up. So they seem out.
That leaves Khador and Menoth. A buddy of mine who will probably try the game out has his eye on Menoth (he's a damn sucker for that kind of thing), the part that appeals to me is their jacks look amazing and I like the paint scheme.
Khador, Now red is a color I haven't done yet very much and I'm interested. I hear these guys are brutal Melee types, which I miss from playing shooty armies in 40k. I need to read through the fluff a bit, but given that my buddy has his heart set on Menoth and I do like these Jacks, I'm tempted to go here.
Is Khador a decent/fun army to play? I really like the Man-o-War models look, I'm hoping they don't suck. I'm rather hoping to not get into an army that has really crappy stuff (I've had this problem with 40k Orks for a while). I hear WM doesn't really have crappy factions though, is that true?

Yeah, It's true there really are not crappy factions in WM...
I collect primarily Khador and I recently got the new Pirate faction...For Hordes I do Trollbloods/Legion...
I personally love Khador, for the most part I loved their initial sculpts and the Man-O-wars don't suck! In fact you can make a decent army out of those units!
As far as color goes you can paint your faction whatever color you like! For my khadoran force I have them painted Black with gold trim after a unit mentioned in the first issue of No Quarter Magazine called the Black Dragons!
By the way Khador can do both melee well and range well (Widowmakers!) but Khador really likes to get in your face...
If you have any other questions let me know, I'd be happy to help!
You really can't go wrong with PP, In fact I am trying to ditch a bunch of my GW stuff to get more PP stuff!
Thanks, Chappy P!

Colors aren't terribly important- you can paint them how you like. Pink Cryx, green menoth, etc.
As far as playstyle, Khador tends to have heavy hitting durable forces with light support. Shooting relies on a few high POW AOEs and Widowmakers. Direct shooting tends to be subpar. Mobility can be an issue, especially with 'jacks. Major infantry includes the Winterguard (light infantry), Iron Fang Pikemen (heavier infantry w/Reach), and Man of Wars (heavy infantry).
Menoth is much more synergistic, relying on buffs and interactions for maximum effect. Menoth has even greater mobility issues than Khador, but can generally increase mat and def better on 'jacks (Infuse, spells, etc.). Major infantry includes Zealots (light firebombers that have a great UA), Temple Flame Guard (sub par to IFP, but very solid w/UA and/or EFeora), and Knights Exemplar (heavy infantry that gets better as they die).

Well from the looks of things I'm getting fairly roped into Khador as it is, my buddy into Menoth.
Quick question, I'm seeing there are a lot more models than I have rules for in the Prime Remix book, I'm guessing that to get the rules for these new units I need to go buy other rulebooks out? Or will the stat card with the box basically do that stuff for me?
I dunno, I may check out the other two factions a bit more and see if I can come up with a color scheme that I like for it, the Cygnar jacks look pretty good, though I like the look of the infantry models for Khador a whole lot more.

Primer Remix should have all the rules you'll need to understand how various TYPES of models work that were released after Prime (Cavalry, Trampling models, Two handed throws, artillery), but the stat cards should have almost every other rule you need.
So all you need is
Prime: Remix and Stat card.

@Voodoo Boyz:
With Prime Remix you have all the rules you need. When you buy a unit box, you get the stat card for play and that's all you need really. The other books are mainly for fluff and senarios(sp?). So if you like that kind of stuff then pick them up, if not you can hold off and buy them at your leisure.
Basically most would suggest and I agree, Go with the factions who's models you enjoy the most...Unlike GW, most warmachine units are worthwhile and you'll probably have troubles fitting in what you like rather than GW were you're limited by what's the most cost effiecient.
Thanks, Chappy P!

You don't HAVE to buy the other rule books. If you buy a unit box the unit card will be in there with it. The only thing you miss out on with buying the books is the stories and the ongoing plot of the whole WM world as well as some other fluff and painting articles. Also if yu ever have any Rules questions go here http://forums.privateerpress.com/index.php?showforum=91 The PP forums are very good about quick desisive rulings.
