Sure challenge away. Just don’t assume everyone you meet who has different views is a “bigot”. Not everyone who claims that they’re a “lore junkie” is a closeted bigot. I’d encourage you to listen to them before assuming anything. To some this hobby is an escape and people take it way too seriously. We all need to be flexible and willing to talk to people.

I’ll use my own example. I think you know or at least hope you know I am a big fan of putting yourself in your hobby. I love the idea of regular people in power armor with bolters. I converted a sisters of battle army with the majority of them being male, since I am male. I want to be invested in my army and want to be a part of it. This may sound stupid but it is what it is. I converted 1000 points of power armored dudes using Van Saar, Militarum, and sisters of battle bits. I went to play at a Warhammer store in Maryland. People were so offended they confronted me, asked staff to kick me out, and even threatened to call my work and get me fired. The Warhammer staff didn’t kick me out but did tell me I couldn’t play with the army. Now people who know me on a personal level will know I’m not a hateful person at all; and I will never be. But someone thought I was and it was enough to seriously affect me.

Like I said before, we should be inclusive. This hobby has done a lot for all kinds of people and I have met some amazing people along the way. There’s nothing wrong with converting your Space Marines as women, your Custodes as women, or however you want to make them. I’d still love to get a game in and grab a drink after (I don’t drink alcohol so I’ll grab a pop). We have to stop being divisive. People have different views and that’s ok. People convert their minis and that’s ok. I’ll gladly stand shoulder to shoulder with you combating real bigotry and hate. While there are evil people in the hobby, the vast majority aren’t. They have different views, which is ok.

Here is a pic of some my guys I converted for anyone who wonders.

Usmcmidn, for what's it worth, I think your power armoured soldiers are cool, and not offensive in any way, and the treatment you got sounds unhinged.

I for one hate the "Everyone get's to express their opinion" statement, as if all opinions are equal.

If my opinion is that all babies should be juggled over a pit of spikes, my opinion is not worth the same as "All babies should be treated with love and kindness".

Not all opinions are equal. That's literally how we got "Have we tried fighting the disease with maybe....sunlight, or bleach?" from one of the previous leaders of the free world. Or that we should use nukes on Hurricanes.

Not all opinions are valid. Some are wrong, and should be corrected.

That being said, 40k is the motherload of bad opinions, made into a form of government, and then interstellar theocracy, and fascistic leadership.

I don't think anyone is saying that at all. Evil exists and legit bigots and racists unfortunately exist. Like I said before ill gladly stand shoulder to shoulder combating them. The point is just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are bigots or racists. Or like my example, if someone makes a male sisters of battle army, because I want to see myself in my army, doesn't give anyone the right to try to get me fired in real life, or having to look for a different Warhammer store to play in. That was literally because someone got offended for something that wasn't there. Its the same as modeling your Space Marines as females or however you want to model them. Do it, they are your minis. Who cares how you model your own toy soldiers. Just be a good person, be a respectable person, be inclusive and accepting. This message is clearly different than juggling babies over a pit of snakes.

Yes, I see your point, and I understand how you meant it. I agree with 99% of your post. My point wasn't a refutation of your accurate and well made points, but rather a addendum to the idea that "All arguments are equal." Free Speech is not what everyone thinks it is.

Oh ok well I’m glad we agree. Free speech should absolutely be protected by the government but there are private implications that could happen and a lot of people don’t realize that. If you genuinely think yourself better than a group of people, I’m not going to hang out with you and I’ll make my opinions known I dislike you.

I shared what happened to me previously and I don’t want treatment like that to happen to anyone enjoying our hobby. We all love this hobby, and we should be as inclusive as possible and welcoming to everyone until their characters prove otherwise. I’m an optimist, I truly believe the vast majority of us are good people and just misunderstood when we have disagreements. We’re all on this rock together and we need to stop being so divisive. It may be a “pipe dream” but I’m going to always strive to be the best I can; and respect everyone until they deem otherwise. Because maybe one day all this hate will go away.
