Hey firstly, I'm new to dakka dakka, browsed the site a few times and seen some great work, plus loved the way the rest of the community gave there comments ideas and sudgestions, so decided to join.

Secondly, I used to play gamesworkshop games about 7 years ago, but got to that age where I was too intersted in going out, clubbing, meeting girls etc so kinda fell out of it, but just before christmas me and my best mate decided to blow the dust off and get back in to it again. we decided to play my old favorite Gorkamorka! though we decided this before christmas we still havent quite finnished our mobs lol, but getting there.

Finnaly, to the trukk, I decided to use the current 40k ork boys for my mob and as any ork collector will no, the games workshop trukks are far too small. So decided to convert my own using the gamesworkshop ork trukk, a tic-tac box, lots of plasticard, green stuff, and bits I've had laying around. it's almost finnished now, and her how it looks so far:

The next stage is make the front, which I want to look like a huge iron jaw (like the one the mobs nob has) glue on the glyths, wheels, and any other extras I can think of to spice it up a bit. So if any one has any ideas, or comments please leave them, cheers!

Cool, That thing actually looks big enough to be a ork battle wagon. You should post it over on www.the-waaagh.com home of all things orky.

looks great so far. Very orky. I think you need to make sure the wheels aren't too weedy. If they are too small you will go from orky to silly.

Post pics when you're done.

First set didn't work for me, second does, and I gotta say those do look like very orky trukks. Need some wheels though. If I had talent (which I don't) I'd make an Ork Trukk with square wheels, just to emphasize the whole "It works because we believe it will work" thing they got goin.

Square wheels is an awesome idea!

Love the rivets, also like the *female dog*in' oil canisters.

How many bobo bases can you fit in there?

thanks for the comments guys, helps keep me going on the project! Worked it out so it can fit my whole gorka mob, the nob (40k warboss) 3 boyz (40k ork boys) 2 yoofs (gorkamorka boys) but theres still room for more managed to squeeze on 8 boys and my warboss around my mates house. Any way enders comment got me scared so here pics of it with the wheels (not glued):

and with the wheel guard again not glued:

think it looks ok, but like to here what ya think, I've also been working on the front, a big orky looking jaw also not glued of finnished yet:

Only problem now is whats the best way to attach it securely, so as always let me know what ya think, any ideas would be very helpfull!

Not bad. The sides of the passenger compartment could use a couple of slapped-on patches, but otherwise it's definitely looking orky.

From the side, there's a strong boat-ish element to it. I'd be resisting the urge to give it a mast, with a grot up top.

i dont see what you ork players complane about, rinos and chimeras, are open toped, you cant fit 10 marines, or 12 gaurdsmen in them, the only reson i say scrach buld your trukks is because its not orky to see the same thing 3, or 4 times, just my opinion

back on topick looks cooler now that you got the wheels on, the only thing i would change is i think the their too close togather

Hey all, been doing some more on my trukk, so closs to finnishing! I've decided to tidy up the front as it was cleary visable from behind the 'jaw' and glued on the glyths and patches:

Very happy with how it's looking as for the jaw, I've glued it all together so it can be easily attached by the bottom. also filled it and glued on some patches, made one end look like it's been blown off and re-attached-frankenstien style!

The only thing I'm not too happy with at the moment in thw wheel guard pannels, which look kinda plain, cut out some patches but still doesnt seem to look quite right, but can't put my finger on it, heres what they look like at the mo, and what they look like with patched (unglued):

So at the moment, trying to figure out what I should do, so any sudjestions?

Excellent. The glyphs and patches on the hull are perfect.

For the wheelguards, I'd recommend just hacking up the bottom edge. Make it nice and ragged, as if the vehicle's been driven through rough terrain by some speed-crazed lunatic...

Hey did a bit of work, I cut up the bottoms of the pannels and still wasnt too happy, after doing some sketches I've come up with a better idea for the side pannels:

Yup thats a chaos icon, wanted to make it look like they lost a pannel and replaced it with one they found. Now they just need a couple of patches and bullit holes and there done.

The Next plan of action (apart from fitting the wheels and pannels) is the banner poll! happy with what I've done but seems too small doesnt make enough of an impact so did some sketches and came up with a simple idea, scanner isnt working so decided to draw it like ein lol:

Only problem is I need some decent ork skulls, got the one with the warhammer fantasy orcs, but it's a bit small. so anyone know any banner etc that have good skulls on please let me know, or even a beast skull (as long as it isnt too big) so please let me know!

EEK!!!! Khorn icons scare me associated with Orks. I was glad when the erra of Chaos Orks had passed. It may be a lil Naive, but I like to believe that Orks are not bad, just mis-understood. They do not kill to give blood to the blood god, but only because.... Orks have ADD and get frustrated easily. Otherwise I LOVE the conversion!!!

One thing to try: Instead of using green stuff for your bolt heads and rivets, get some hexagonal styrene rod. Cut off little sections of it, and glue it right on there. Looks just like bolt heads, and the sloppier, the Orkier.

Thanks for the comments, and don't worry, I've never liked the idea of choas orks either, Like you I have the idea that orks arnt really evil they just love fighting..a bit like russle crow..but green. I just wanted a symbol on it to represent how orks tend to use anything they can get there hands on, the chances are the orks don't even know what it means or bother to ask lol. as for the hexagonal styrene rod's they sound like a good idea gonna head staight on to ebay and give 'em a look. still dunno what skulls to use for my banner pole though please anyone have any ideas?

I think it would be amusing if they put the Khornate plate (ha) on upside down, and would cut down the "WTF Chaos Orks oh noes" factor.

Not a bit update but finnaly got the wheels on it! WHOOOO!

Even better though there turney wheels! thats right they turn so I can push it around the battlefild instead of having to lift it and knock all my models over! easy to do just dill a hole through the chaises and attach both the wheels on eather end with a copper rod. at the moment just working on the bottom making it look half decent for once it's destroyed and turned over in battle, gotta do the rivits, finnish the banner (once I find some decent ork skulls) then it should be ready to paint! please any comments or ideas where to get the skulls let me know!

Hey all dispite seeing the new ork models I've decided to still carry on and finnish this one! Done the rivits not that interesting but makes it look a bit more finnished and orky:

Now I've set my sites on the bottom as it really let the model down as a whole, added a couple of worky bits, still doesnt seem finnished hmm any ideas?

Oh and on the banna front still not found any decent ork skulls, the one on the wfb ork boyz spure will do but need more, saw a converted biker ages ago that had an ork head with a helmet simply painted like a skull and really looked effective, the only problem is, if I'm having it hanging, what can I do with the back? as it just has that dent where the neck fits in to it, hmm any ideas please let me know, comments and sudjestions allways welcome!
