I played my first few games with mercenaries on the weekend. Here are a few observations on Ashlynn and Magnus. 1. You're going to be short focus often. Ash wants to camp focus as often as possible so that stray blasts aren't taking huge chunks out of her weak ARM13 body. Mags wants to run jacks - but can only effectively concentrate on one a turn with the odd boost here and there. 2. Low CMD sucks! Most mercenary units have middling CMD. I've had my poor guys run from abomination or terror causing models often. I've been told that Hawk is an officer with CMD9, so I think she'll be a mandatory inclusion, much as I wanted to refrain from taking any pirates. (The piper of Ord is also required auto include!) - For this reason alone, I've decided (after several test-drives) that Magnus' agenda is largely rubbish, because of Magnus' terrible CMD rating, and limited unit selection. 3. Your models don't help each other! They sometimes have above average stats and funky abilities, but the lack of synergy really hurts.
