I can guess the answer to this, but I actually don't know what the BBB says (don't have the newest) ...

Can independant characters join up with other independant characters to form their own squad?  They're both their own units in assault, but I'm not sure what the character section says any more about ICs joining squads.  An example might be several independant commisars joining up to form a squad (a gaggle, perhaps?).

A unit of Commisars is properly a pride. A group of three is a Mexican Standoff

Oh god, just imagine it. A unit of commisars fails a command check. Each one executes another for failing the check.
