I know there is a lot of talk about the usefullness or lackthereof of wraithguard in the Eldar army. You are sacrificing things like Harlequins, Falcons/FirePrisms, Wraithlords, and the like for a unit that is expensive and doesn't give you speed, hitting hard at long range, or close combat superiority. What I'm wondering is has there been a discussion about the effectiveness of wraithguard in a game of over 2000 pts, say a 2500 or 3000 point game. There are many ard boyz tournaments that run in this point level. The mech eldar list and the ocassionally mentioned wraithzilla list suffer from the same kinds of problem that the nidzilla list suffer from, mainly above a certain point value they lose effectiveness. 1500pt nidzilla vs 1500 pt guard the guard are toast, but at 2500pts the guard have much more heavy weapons while the nids have the same number of MCs. Is there a way to effectively integrate a unit or two of wraithguard into a mech eldar list to take it from the base of about 1750 pts where it is known for being effective to 2500pts where its effectiveness starts to waver. As a base I've got this: Eldrad Autarch of Jetbike 6 Harlequins with kisses and shadowseer 10 Wraithguard with warlock and conceal 10 Wraithguard with warlock and conceal 6 Pathfinders 6 Pathfinders 6 Pathfinders 5 Shining Spears Falcon with Scatterlaser, shuriken cannon, holofield and spirit stones Fireprism with shuriken cannon, holofield and spirit stones Fireprism with shuriken cannon, holofield and spirit stones
