Refered here by Deathguard.org,  I am a brand new member with a brand new list I'm creating using the new codex.  For a while I had been strictly death guard but it appears I cannot get away with doing so with the new rules, they are just too costly and don't appear to work as well anymore vs my primary opponent being blood angels. 

So I came up with the following rough draft "black legion" army with a mostly nurgle theme to it.  I may even paint a good portion of the non plague marines a bit nurgley so as to show that even if they are still black legion they are slowly succumbing to the gifts that grandfather nurgle offers them.

As I said it's just a rough draft and I'm sure could use a lot of work considering I only have 3 troop choices in a 2000 point army.  I may scrap Abaddon for typhus (especially since he is nurgle) and have 50 points to spare.  Any input, positive or negative is welcome, especially if it will help me vs blood angels.

Welcome to Dakka! And I gotta say your list seems quite Death Guardy, just have Abby and those raptors in there mucking things up ... My thoughts on the list:

Abby -> Switch him for Typhus definitely, much cooler, much more Nurgley, and you need the points elsewhere

Prince -> Give him warptime (25 points), it will work wonders for you in combat. Barring that maybe wind of chaos as wings let you make the most of that template, then charge in for carnage. But really, warptime.

Great Generic One -> Way to keep him in the list, and just too bad you don't have real cheap champs to explode

Raptors -> I personally don't like them much at all, kinda boring in the new book and waaaay expensive in the last book. I would rather see 1 squad of these guys put toward another plague squad, likely a melta one with rhino.

Plaguers -> Typhus needs somebody to walk with, and plasma has the range to start on the table, you ask me. If you drop the rhinos on the plasma squads, you can drop 1 raptor squad to afford another melta plague marine squad in rhino. Then, slap extra armor on those 2 rhinos to keep them moving. You've now got 21 points left after all this shuffling.

Defiler -> Nice.

Pred -> So 21 points left? Give the pred d. possession so it can keep shooting and shooting. The BS3 is kinda crappy for the sponsons, but I think the ability to ignore most glances and all side effect stuns from pens is well worth it.

Total -> 1999 points

I think my suggestions should make everything a little more resilient, at the cost of just 1 body. Now I just wish I could find you the points to upgrade some power weapons to powerfists - fists really take advantage of the lower plague marine initiaitive and with all that FNP last a long time, particularly against assault marines without power weapons and all that. Perhaps don't go with the possessed pred and instead give 2 plague AC's powerfists? Thinking about 1 rhino & 1 foot plague squad, to spread the versatility around and also give you a "cheap" champ to explode into the GGO both on foot and in transport.

In fact, I like the fist upgrades more than the pred upgrades, given the BS3 business.

Thanks much for the welcome and the advice.  I think ya got a point about the power fists, that's how my ACs used to be armed so I suppose I outta just keep em the same. 

4 Plague marine troops sounds good as well, but I'm still tryin to decide whether I really want those raptors or not, may just go bikers or terminators.  Also what do you folks think about land raiders?

Also was it the predator or the defiler you were sayin was bs3?  Cus it says in the book chaos predator = bs4 and defiler = bs3, which makes sense if you think about it.
