Emporer's Children 200 points + Models

After Horus's defeat by the Emperor, the Emperor's Children left a trail of depopulated worlds as they fled to the Eye of Terror with the rest of the Traitor Legions. They were the first to raid Imperial worlds for captives and plunder. Because simple raiding could not supply enough raw human material for their orgies of worship, the Emperor's Children turned on the slaves of the other Traitor Legions, beginning a series of wars within the Eye of Terror. Eventually, the Emperor's Children were crushed and shattered into separate warbands of hedonistic fanatics.

The Emperor's Children later took part in a joint assault on the Sons of Horus's homeworld in the Eye of Terror. During this they captured and cloned the body of Horus. Immediately afterward, Abaddon the Despoiler took control of the Sons and renamed them the Black Legion. Abaddon's first act was to devastate the Emperor's Children and destroy the cloned Horus[1].

As for the Daemon-Fulgrim himself, he was elevated by Slaanesh to the rank of Daemon Prince, and rules over a planet of unending, unlimited pleasure. Fulgrim's soul has never been fully destroyed, and still dwells within his warped body, tortured by the visions of ten millennia of service to Chaos. To this day, Emperor's Children warbands and expeditions from the Inquisition seek out Fulgrim, but none have returned. It is a sign of how seriously the Imperium takes the threat posed by Fulgrim that the Inquisition still maintains a dedicated strike-force committed to following up any rumor of the Primarch's existence, no matter how vague.

Fulgrim's one reported appearance following the Heresy occurred one hundred years after the Second Founding, on the world of Thessala, where an Emperor's Children warband battled the Ultramarines. Each Primarch led their forces in person. Billowing clouds of heady musk enveloped the battlefield as Roboute Guilliman and Fulgrim met in single combat. None who were present on that day can say for sure what happened, yet, when the cloying musks cleared, the Emperor's Children were gone and Roboute Guilliman lay still, a single bright slash of blood across his throat. Guilliman was hastily placed in a stasis field by the Ultramarines apothecarions to halt the onset of death.

Various members of the pre-Heresy legion are still active today, including Lord Commander Eidolon, last seen as one of Abaddon's lieutentants during the Thirteenth Black Crusade, and Captain Lucius, now known as Lucius the Eternal and champion of Slaanesh. Former Apothecarion Fabius Bile also is much sought after by the Traitor Legions for his expertise in cloning and knowledge of Space Marine gene-seed.

Formation

1+ Luscious the Eternal OR a Chaos lord/Prince with the mark of Slaanesh
6 squads of chaos space marines that have exactly 6 models, thats are NOT noise marines (noise marines can be taken along side the formation as usual). Each squad must upgrade one model to an Aspiring Champion.

Slaanesh Above all:

No models bearing any mark other than the mark of Slaanesh may be anywhere in the army list, this includes Mark of Chaos Glory

Emporer's Children:

Each Chaos Space Marine must take the mark of Slaanesh, as they are true blue Emporer's Children. They gain the actual mark, as this is not an icon.

Distortion

When Emperor's Children become noise marines, they often use sonic weaponry to keep them grounded. Their senses are distorted and they only recognize the most extreme of stimuli. With out them, they sometimes get lose the ability to focus. Roll 2D6 for each unit after before it moves. On a roll of a "2", the unit can not move that turn. If it is assaulted, it can fight back as usual. If an enemy is with in 12", this roll is automatically passed, as it is close enough to be recognized. When night fighting rules are in effect, a roll of a "2" or a roll of "12" both cause it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this has only negatives and no benefits...

So why does it cost 200 extra points?

So the point of this formation is to pay 200 points to suck? Uh, okay.

Edit: Doh, ninja-ed by asmith.

I think its 200points to give every CSM Mark of Slaanesh.

What you might consider adding on is

"Perfect Tactics" - The Emperors Children have for thousands of years prided themselves on making war an art form. They have perfected tactics from the squad level through to the Legion level.

The Army gains the following Strategic Assets:
Redeployment
Scheduled Bombardment
Vital Objective
(Can't remember and dont have the book on me, but sure there must be assets that can be given to represent this)

And Stealing something from the Book of Slaanesh(Last Ed. Chaos)

"Combat Drugs" - Slaaneshi Champions and Leaders have access to a wide arrange of drugs which can enhance them in numerous aspects. They may be taken at the start of any assault phase. When they are taken the Slaaneshi player can choose up to 3 of the abilities listed. Roll a D6 for each ability, if a double is rolled take a wound,no saves. If a treble is rolled the character is killed outright as his body cannot take such an overdose:
(This is badly worded,I think it means choose 3 from below,Roll 3 dice and if a 1,5,4 appears you get them)

  • If charging through difficult terrain roll an extra D6 to determine how far he can move

  • +1 Weapon Skill

  • +1 Strength

  • Ignores first unsaved wound(As long as Instant Death is not inflicted)

  • +1 Attack

  • There are others in the Book but how about those to start with

The Combat Drugs wording specifically allows you to pick the abilities you want. It's just that the more you take, the more likely you are to hurt yourself. Using one has no chance of hurting you, but you might hurt yourself if you take two, etc. Combat Drugs are 25 pts. in the Dark Eldar Codex and I believe they were equally pricey in the old Chaos Codex, so I would take this into consideration when pricing the formation.

Well I only threw that out as tbh his formation had no major benefit and your champions(All of em) and HQ's gaining that isn't so bad.

True. My apologies for not being more specific-the thrust of my comment was more that if you were giving out free combat drugs on top of 3 free strategic assets (and I think those three are pretty easily worth 200 points) you might want to reconsider the points cost.

Yeah thats true but bare in mind its also got those Emp Kids specific draw backs. I'd say 250 point + Models for 2 assets and Combat Drugs for all

When the new chaos codex came out, I wrote (snail-mail) to Jervis to express my displeasure at having only just constructed an Emperor's Children army that was suddenly invalid considering WYSIWYG rules (converted sonic terminators, sonic bikers, sonic havoks, etc).

He actually wrote back. The gist of his letter was, 'well, that sucks to be you, but we think the game will be better this way, but you can still use them in Apocalypse.' And, he included a few pre-release datafaxes. One is a 'Chaos Conclave' which is essentially one (or more) Named characters and another 4-8 chaos HQs, with a unit of termies or chosen for each HQ choice. It gives some strategic bonuses. Another was for dreadclaw assaults, and the third was for Emperor's Children.

Basically, it's one HQ with Mark of Slaanesh, and 1-6 units that all get the mark of slaanesh for free (well, minus the cost of the formation), that includes bikers, havoks, terminators, chosen, dreadnoughts - probably a few other things. You get the option to trade out weapons for sonic weapons on all these units, can get doom sirens on independent characters (and maybe on dreads). No combat drugs :(

Anyhow - I expect that it will be up on their website eventually.

good ideas. Like I said, this was a first attempt, it was posted here to get ideas.

The combat drugs is a great idea. So is the assets.

Its good to know that GW was thinking of the same thing I was.

No, back to tinkering. I will post changes for your critique soon.

I also think that if you're going to focus a datasheet solely on a named legion, you should probably go back to including the sacred squad sizes again with some corresponding bonus.

Maybe something like: All noise marine squads that are taken at the sacred size (I can't remember what that is for Slaanesh right now) gets a free squad icon?

Something like that. An Apoc data sheet is the perfect place to add back in some of the legion rules.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
    yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

Oh yeah, I made all the squads sizes exactly 6, and you have to take 6 squads exactly. I am trying to make really old Emporer's children who use non sonic weapons though.
