i really want to play a horde army for the new orks. im not looking to go to tournaments, but i would like a fairly interesting semicompetitive list for casual games. However i dont know what route i really want to take
below are four options i have thought of, any suggestions or comments regarding either an individual list or which one i should field would be most appreciated.

Option A

Warphead

Shoota Boyz(20)w/2 rokkits
Shoota Boyz(20)w/2 rokkits
Shoota Boyz(20)w/2 rokkits
Slugga Boyz(20)w/2 big shootas, Nob w/pk
Slugga Boyz(20)w/2 big shootas, Nob w/pk
Slugga Boyz(20)w/2 big shootas, Nob w/pk

model count: 121

Option B

Warphead
Warphead

Shoota Boyz(20)w/2 rokkits
Shoota Boyz(20)w/2 rokkits
Slugga Boyz(20) Nob w/pk
Slugga Boyz(20) Nob w/pk
Gretchin(30) w/3 runtherds
Gretchin(30) w/3 runtherds

model count: 148
-could replace warphead w/ more boyz and guns

Option C

Warphead

Shoota Boyz(25)
Shoota Boyz(25)
Shoota Boyz(25)
Slugga Boyz(26)
Slugga Boyz(26)
Slugga Boyz(26)
-3 points over but my gaming group doesnt mind a few over

model count: 153

Option D

Warphead

Shoota Boyz(28)
Shoota Boyz(28)
Slugga Boyz(28)
Slugga Boyz(28)
Gretchin(30) w/ 3 runtherds
Gretchin(30) w/ 3 runtherds
-3 points under

model count: 179

i realize i will have problems with skimmers and other mobile armies, but the fact that orks can get so many models at 1000 is impressive and will make it difficult to remove them all
im also planning on scaling up the army to 1500 at some time

I'd go with list E, it will do fairly well and I love all the choices in it. Really.

On the topic 'Wich bases are supplied with my Terminators and how could I abuse it'...after turning into a debate on english language and the meaning of the word 'supply'.

i dont know a lot of armies that can kill 100+ orks in a 1000 pt game

Option A I like the most, and it really is a scary load of orks. All the same I think dropping a squad of orks to get some buggies or something fast / special / fun wouldn't hurt, and would definitely be orky ... Maybe some deffkoptas or something.

Choice 'A' IMO

I just love seeing so many models. Orks coming back to the game and bringing a "new" dynamic back to 40k. I can't wait to see you stuff all those bodies down lascannon spammers throats.

Although I think if orks start performing as well as I think they are going to, that is going to put a little bit of a damper on my 175 model guard army. the heavy bolters that everyone is going to start taking to fight you off is gonna chew me up

I'd be happy anyway. Having more people play with an under-represented 'meta-type' of army can only make the tourney environment more healthy and competitive. Although TOs are going to have to put some SERIOUS thought into increasing the time limit on games up to at least 2.5 hours.

On your concerns... Most of the skimmers you'll have problems with aren't that threatening to you. Hammerheads can wreck you, but falcons can't really output enough shots to bring down your big units, speeders you can pop with shootas and rokkits, and anything else is a transport. Who the hell is gonna get out of their transport with that many greenskins on the table? Mobile armies are going to move better than you, but just get to the objectives. Either they have to eventually get to them also, or you get even more bonus VPs as they futilely try to pick away at your big units.

I would probably run 4 units of 30 rather than 6 units of 20. But at 1k points i dunno, maybe 20 is a safe number, but 1k points could probably kill 12-14 orks very easily each turn. Which would make you really vulnerable to morale.

btw, i think this list would be well beyond semi-competitive. I think unless your opponent was prepared for this, both mentally and with his list, you are going to seem completely unbeatable.

Please come back and tell us how its going. Our gaming group is going to help a member put together a massive horde of orks. I'm confident that it will be good, but I'm enjoying reading all of the batreps so far from footsloggers.

Feel free to PM me to talk about your list ideas....

no stormboyz? even in a foot slogging hoard I'd want to be able to tie their shooting up on turn 2 or so with that amazing movement. though it does eat up the points considerably.

think about:

Warphead
Shoota Boyz (23) 2 rokkits, nob w/ klaw
Shoota Boyz (23) 2 rokkits, nob w/ klaw
Stormboyz (20) Nob Klaw
Stormboyz (20) Nob Klaw
87 models 1 pt over (if they give you grief take out 2 boyz and add 2 bosspoles and you're good)

not as many models but 1/2 your army will be in their face on the 2nd turn. if the enemy isn't shooting your boyz will have time to close the gap

well, i agree on stormboyz, but i want everything ot have a place thematically with this army and im having trouble adding them at this point. also i think they serve better in larger games, to add some specialists, but maybe i will include 1 unit. this list is working wonders so far as people are not ready to kill 100+ orks, and mot think it cant be done without changing hteir lists to fight it. yeah i think the all horde style might start making it into the metagame after the hype of some of the other units gets old. What about 1500, im thinking
another warphead
squads to 30?
stormboyz and/or kommandos (snikrot would really help this list but he is alot of points)
and those units because they are the cheapest orks per point after boyz
