Are there workarounds to the post bumping the post
you are reading?

Yeah it can be a bit annoying, the problem is that in firefox it skips you to the post, then loads the images, pushing your location to the wrong point of the page. I am writing a workaround into the system with the rest of the skip to first unread stuff that is changing, but for now you can wait until the whole page is loaded, then click on the URL in your browser and press enter again to reload to the correct point.

I have not tested the bug with IE yet so cant say for sure if it happens there too.

Whenever I hit skip to first unread it always brings me to the last post in the thread, regardless of what the last post I actually read was. I'm using IE v6.

yup that is a known bug and will be fixed in the next release.

If you click 'stop' it won't keep loading the images and you can read normally.

It's what I do.
