Would it be fluffy to use Arbites as an Inquisitor's Retinue? It seems to me that their job of policing the hives is similar to the job of the Inquisitors, namely finding and killing Traitors, mutants, etc.
If I were to use them. What models would best represent them? Imo the enforcer gang from Necromunda seems right, seeing as Arbites are often armed with bolters at least that's what I think. Also the INQ Arbites judge is wearing similar armor to the enforcer models. My other idea would be to use Kasrkin and do some weaponswaps. Which one is the better idea in your guys' minds? Or do you have a third option?

In most novels that I've read involving Inquisitors, their retinue is composed of whomever they feel like composing it of, and with the near infinite number of cultures and subcultures within the Imperium, you can probably choose whatever humanoid you want to use as a retinue. But using Arbites sounds pretty novel an idea. I would try and suggest using Mordians as an option.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Using Arbites would be very fluffy.

Some of the Arbites background is in the Enforcer rules for Necromunda:

http://www.specialist-games.com/assets/nec_enfor.pdf

The Arbites themselves focus on maintaining the planet's loyalty to the Emperor-murders/theft they tend to leave up to the local authorities (ie: Enforcers).

Per the fluff that I'm aware of (including the new Dark Heresy RPG and the Codex: WH option for Arbites) shotguns are the order of the day for the Adeptus Arbites.

Enforcer models should work fine-however, I would try and find individual models as the composition in the box may not match what you are going for.

GW used to make Arbites models-it is possible you might be able to find some on EBay.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

hells yeah.

Necromunda models if you can find them, I was going to use Space Marine Scouts mixed with Cadians.

Well if shotguns are important would enforcers mix well with scouts? Or are they different sizes?
Mordians also sound good. But they're missing carapace armor, which I associate with arbites.
Edit: Actually if they use the new bitz system for necromunda too, I could just buy the enforcer with a shotgun and the enforcer with the shield.

I would definetly take Necromunda Enforcers.

I use scouts for my retinue, but that's because bolters are 1 point cheaper than hellguns.

According to Army builder I can't buy shotguns for my Arbites, as I'll probably use them as acolytes. What would be the most-fluffy weapon that acolytes can take if I wantg them to represent Arbites?

Or should I use Imperial Guard veterans, seeing as they can take shotties?
Edit: Would it be better to use WH? Their acolytes can take shotguns and and they have crusaders so I can use the guys with shields.

I plan on using Arbites with my WH. The WH codex allows you to take Inquisitorial Storm Troopers as a troops choice and give them shotguns instead of hellguns. So you could have entire squads of Arbites. If you just want them in the Retinue, warriors get 4+ save which equates to carapace armor and the IG vets description says they can switch to shotguns, which basically describes Arbites. Alcolytes are going to have 6+ saves and BS 3, but you can give them carapace or even power armour from the Witch Hunters armoury list. You can arm them with a bolter or shotgun. So they would work as Arbites. They are still BS 3 and the whole point in having them is to use them as human shields for the Inquisitor so are they worth spending the extra wargear on? I don't think so, but if that what works for you.

I had a squad like that, never used them though.

WH =I=. 3 acolyes with carapace armor and combi-flamers (repped as Arbites shotguns), 3 warriors with plasma and a medic.

I have an Adeptus Arbites army that I play using counts as Witch Hunters rules. The Precinct Captain is an Inquisitor lord with power sword and combi-weapon, he has two acolytes with carapace and storm bolters. Also in his retinue, I have 3 crusaders who have storm shields and power mauls, a priest with eviscerator, two servo-skulls as familiars. The line squads are storm troopers with flamers and grenade launchers, I use cyber-mastiffs as arco-flaggelents, and play Sisters of Battle as Arbites with bolters and improved carapace armor. It isn't the winningest army, but it's fun to play.

If you want a traditional retinue acolytes and crusaders are the best way to go. If you just want him to lead a squad go with some hardened veterans since they have so many options they could tailor to whatever role you would need.

Seems like I have a lot of options. This going to be harder to choose than I thought.
Samwise do you have any pics of your army?
