Howdy folks!

In the midst of planning my 'Nid army and I'm adding some winged CC Warriors.

I picked up some gargoyle wings (while I still could) and am planning to use those.

Any pointers on attaching these or are there other, better wings to use?

Thanxs a bunch!

When I did mine back in the day I used wings from the Epic Fantasy dragons. As far as how to put them on, if you can, try to replace a set of arms with them. `Nids are supposed to have 6 sets of limbs. If you're going with Talons and Claws, you could make their feet into the claws.

However... In the current rules I'd say you're better off with leaping so you can get the Extended Carapace for the 4+ save, otherwise standard bolter fire will rip your warriors apart like paper dolls.

I have gargoyle wings on some of my warriors. They are the right size and will fit into the upper arm socket with some filing and pinning. Just make sure you balance the model right. As for having six limbs, that's kind of a problem, but you could use the big bear paw looking rending claw arms (instead of the smaller genestealer claws most people use) and say that they count as rending and scything talons.

the batwings from the newish Chaos Possessed? - if you can get hold of them, that is, a lot of converters are after them.

Personally I agree with the 'wings are one of the three pairs of limbs' theory, it just makes good logical sense - but other people couldn't care less. As Aduro says, you can make their feet into claws - a flying warrior don't need no feet!

Before you get too carried away though, remember 5th Ed is on its way, and may alter the optimal options for a lot of units, e.g. the Force March rumours speed up ordinary infantry, so wings _may_ lose some of their relative advantages

One thing I've seen ldone very well is clear or slightly translucent plastic made into flat insect-like wings. I saw an entire army with it once, gargoyles, warriors, tyrant. Looked good.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, I have to bring up the FW wings for Warriors.

Although pricey (like all FW stuff) they are fantastic looking.

I recommend pogo sticks. Easy to model, and make a great conversation peice.

Barring that, I have envisioned insect like wings made from clear plastic from blister packs, with PVA glue for the little veiny looking things. They looked REALLY cool, in my head at least. I don't see why it wouldn't work at least, though it might be a bit too flexible for the PVA to hold up well if you put it on too thickly. Better stick with the pogo.

Also, you might find some cheap Clix or D&D minis with appropriate wings, and bulk order them from an internet retailer. As a bonus, if you pick a good model you might get a whole set of other useful bitz too.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
