One panel is held on by magnets... so I can change batteries. Switch is on the bottom to turn on and off.

I thought these turned out pretty cool.

For one day of work, good lord... Where do the nacho cheese dispensers go?

I read recently that filling a container with hot glue helps the light disperse through it. If you want more glow comin from various places you could maybe fill the big top crystal with hot glue (this should be tested first!), hell you could fill some of the side panels too, it might work...

Your next task is to install some kind of gizmo that makes them float 6" above the table surface. Get to it ya slacker!!

Hmmm.... magnetize the table surface then the monolith... This would either hold them together very nice or float the monolith... or the table.... Now that would be awesome! Lookin' good though.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

The light on the inside is not near bright enough. It has two small lights and the crystal is the only one that shows up really well. I need to rework the light/powersorce inside. I think maybe a strobe effect inside would rule.

thx for the compliments.

Nice effect! The troopers look good too.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Pretty cool. I like it when people make their monoliths light up. With a model that big, its really not all that hard to do. It looks like everything electrical wise is internal. How do you keep your lightbulb suspended evenly? I had to use an external light.

When I did my light up Monolith several steps were needed to help get that perfect glow. First, I cut out a back slot for the main lights on the side bars and on the top four pylons. Naturally the slot should be narrower than the green rod so the rod doesn't fall through and you don't get any bleed through on the sides. Then to help get better light reflection on the inside because I only use one light bulb as well. I painted the entire inside surface white.

Unfortunatly without using seperate leds I couldn't think of a good way to get light into each of the gun barrels.

Here is a link for the interested.

If you could get them to flash, or better yet, a bright led, and then a softer led, make it look somewhat pulsing. Looks great, so does the paint job.

Once it was all dry, I pulled the middle support thingy out... cut it down to a nub and glued the led on it like a pedestal. Works like a charm.

Not bright enough. A monolith should be big enough, just wire it up with a 30watt bulb and you're good to go.

Many a Sentinel pilot has hesitated to call his vehicle a walking coffin after battling beside a Dreadnought.

I went with LED's to make sure that my monolith did not melt. Any sort of bulb heat will be damaging over time.
