GW is posting their staff's choices for the best WH models ever as part of the 25th anniversary celebration.

http://uk.games-workshop.com/warhammer/25miniatures/25miniatures/

So far (#21-#25 shown so far as of this posting) the stuff in there is indeed pretty classic, including a lot of older 80's stuff like Hrothogg here:

Another detail that's abosolutely no shock to me is that four of the five shown so far are Jes Goodwin sculpts. The man is a genius. If I were a woman I would be moving to England and trying to have his babies.

Kick ass, the Greater Demon of Tzeentch made the cut. That model is the sex. Oh, and Mannahnin, you can have his babies. Just find and egg donor, get homeboy to "juice" the egg and they can attach it to your inside. While it won't technically be yours you will feel the magic of giving birth. Just a thought.

I’d need quite a substantial alternation to my plumbing to give birth. And one not currently within the capabilities of medical science. I think I’m all set, thanks.

Apparently, it's endorsed by Mickey Mouse.
Next question is: why would a man want to? After witnessing it myself, I don't know why women do it. Seems like we should be able to grow kids in vats by now.

We could Rbb, but it's a lot easier (and cheaper) to just use the equipment nature provided for that purpose.

Of course I've dealt with pregnant women. My avatar is a picture of my 3 kids, Alex, Katy and Lilly. I have scars on my right hand from where she was gouging me delivering my son.

Well? Wouldn't you have rather have had them without having to deal with a prego? Maybe it's just me. My wife became diabetic when she was pregnant which just amplified the emotional roller coaster.

Course that first delivery provided some humor too. She had been pushin him out for ~ 15 minutes, and with a look of dispair on her face said something like "I can't do this anymore. Cut him out, I can't do this." To which I replied "I can see his head." "Ok, 1 more push." And he came out.

I would absolutley never do what my wife did twice and for some strange reason wants to do again.

That's a nice group of wee ones you got there KiMonarrez.

Oh and yeah on the topic. I hope Jes Goodwin get's the number one spot on the 25 and that someone has already chosen to make his babies.

Be better to just clone Jes. No promise that his kids could sculpt. Not many rock stars' kids become rock stars themselves. Hmm, what if the whole studio was run by clones of Jes Goodwin. Every army would get kick ass models without the years of waiting!

the new hotness is outsourcing to Indian surraget mothers. Why shoudl rich first worlders have to put up with such indignities!

Anyway, on topic, I nominate Eisenhorn and Necromunda's Clan Trenchcoat.

And don't forget great sculpter Jes also did these guys:

Ah. Then I nominate every one of the freaky chaos guys from the late 80s.

That should fill the next 20 slots.

21 (mostly), 23, and 25 are indeed awesome. I'd have to go for the classic Warrior Priest with big hammer, or the flagellant with hand on head (can't find pics of either of them - damn the range has seriously nose-dived in the past few months), or the GD Orc Boss, or the Brettonia guy with the Griffon, or a whole load of Slaanesh (Daemonettes, Yyrm rider, champion on foot) off the top of my head.

Nuts, man. I wrote a nice long list of what I would nominate to be in the top 25 and it got eaten...I'll have to try to recreate it tomorrow.

The old Marauder Giant is still, IMHO, the best giant (save maybe the Reaper Warlord one). Just loads of character.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Okay, here are my noms on what I think should be in the top 25 (not necessarily in order, just in order as I try to remember the list I came up with yesterday):

- OOP Bird-headed Sorceror of Tzeentch on Disc (this is one of my all-time favorite models)
- New Snake-bodied Lord of Slaanesh
- New Slaanesh Champion
- Bretonnian Green Knight
- DOW Long Drong's Slayers
- Mordheim Freelancer Knight, Aenur - Sword of Twilight, Bertha Bestraufrung (okay, not technically WHFB)
- OOP Doombellow the Warped Minotaur Lord
- Current Dark Elves Witch Elves and Cauldron of Blood Witch Elves
- DOW Lucretia Belladonna
- Empire Luthor Huss
- Current Lizardmen Slann Mage Priest
- OOP Night Goblin Fanatics
- Current Skaven Boneripper
- Skaven Poison Wind Globadiers
- OOP Blood Bowl Star Players (okay, again not technically WHFB, but made for some awesome conversions)

Hellcannon. Nice.

Too bad GW slanted away from the demon-engine thing. They could have had lots of gothic coolness. Although that said, I suppose this is a fantasy discussion.

I agree with the above being great models all. Ikit Klaw, the Verminlord and Doomwheel all stand out for me as well, as do several of the OOP chaos champions. If we can count demons, the newest metal demonettes and the previous metal nurglings are some of my favorite models that GeeDub makes / has made. I also really like the latest metal herded squigs / hoppers, though could use more variations (but only if they are NOT like the new giant cave squig).

The last metal kroxigor are also waaay up there for me too, and the new carnosaur sits atop my list of Best Monsters
