so i'm wondering about burna boyz, can i use a combination of flamers and power waepons in one round? Can i have a unit of 10 boyz shoot 1 or two flamers and then use the rest as power weapons?

I don't see why not. "A" burner can be used one of two ways in a turn. The rule doesn't say anything about the squad using the burnas in one of two ways.

you can always chose which weapons you want firing in a squad per turn. If the rules forced you to fire the whole squad then burna boys would kill more of themselves than the enemy!

No, they wouldn't. The rules for template weapons do not allow you to place them in contact with any friendly models. The lads in the back simply wouldn't be able to shoot.

It depends on what you mean. The rules say you can not use them as both template weapons and power weapons in one turn. On page 45 it says "A burna may be used in the shooting phase with the profile below, or as a power weapon in an assult, but not both in the same turn." However you could have half the squad use them as templates and then in the assult the other half could use power weapons.

Just FYI

10 Burnas vs. 10 Beakies

ALL BURN

Shooting
(assuming 3 hits per model, not unlikely IMO)

30 hits - 15 wounds - 10 saves - 5 dead Beakies

Assault
(9 Burnas hitting back after Beakies are done)

27 attacks - 13, 5 hits - 6,75 wounds - 4,5 saves - 2,25 dead Beakies

TOTAL: 7,25 Beakies dead - 9 Burnas still standing

ALL POWERWEAPON

Shooting

NA

Assault
(8 Burnas hitting back after Beakies are done)

24 attacks - 12 hits - 6 wounds - 0 saves - 6 dead Beakies

TOTAL: 6 dead Beakies - 8 Burnas still standing

HALF-n-HALF

Shooting

15 hits - 7,5 wounds - 5 saves - 2,5 dead Beakies

Assault
(assuming you take casualties from non-PW Burnas)
(8,5 Burnas still standing after Beakies are done)

24 attacks - 12 hits - 6 wounds - 1,5 saves - 4,5 dead Beakies

TOTAL: 7 dead Beakies - 8,5 Burnas still standing

Variables:

Armour better than 3+ points towards more PW
Armour worse than 3+ points towards less PW
Cover is irrelevant since we hit last anyway

Conclusion: Remember to make them do the Burny Dance always. It is just a question of how long the dance is.
