Well, after retiring my waaagh until the 5th edition of 40k comes out, Ive decided to play a game that is more about tactics.
Im working on a 750 point dwarf list, that I should have posted for review after I finish my final exams tomorrow, but I decided to take a break from studying to ask, what equipment sets do you guys recommend for a thane?

I was thinking of giving him runes of cleaving and karakk the grim so he become s7, if that is legal, and spending the other 40 points on a ward save, but I dont know.

He will probably be in a unit of Iron breakers, and he will have a oathstone (I watched a guy in the GW by me 'set the stone' and his unit wiped the floor with 3-4x its number of orks, and I thought to my self, I want to do that). Any help will be appreciated.

he can't have a lord in 750 points. remember your thane can only have 50 points in runes.

I am a Utah man sir, I live across the green, our gang is the jolliest that you have ever seen, Our co-eds are the fairest, ans each one's a shining star, our yell you'l hear it ringing through the mountains near and far.
Who am I sir? a UTAH MAN am I. A UTAH MAN sir, I will be till I die.

I've noticed that it's usually wiser to not spend overly much on runes with Thanes. If you want to use some nice, expensive items they work better with dwarf lord choices. A great weapon, a shield and a rune of stone for the armor should see the Thane through most stuff. You can give him rune of resistance (for extra survivability) and/or master rune of challenge (draw harassing units from threatening warmachines for example) in addition.

MRof karag, fury, and another fury is a prety good way to kit out the guy. 5 str 6 attacks is impressive for any char and its not to expensive.
