HOORAY !
Read ! Rejoice !
I am especially stoked about the expansions and the upgrade kit which is an ace idea.
..... am I alone in thinking that if GW did this they wouldn't release the upgrade kit alone ? :?

I am not a huge fan of the game, but I will agree it is alot more fun with all of the expansions.
Its good to see that they are releasing the figs for the game. and that they are offering a kit for those who bought it last year. it is odd though because I thought that GW didn't release the rights for games with models in them (space hulk, etc.), leading me to believe that we would never see talisman figs again.
FFG may have some wonky release schedules sometimes, but its worth it once their games do come out.
And no I think the last sentence in you post is true.

Weee!! Superfantastic. I was putting together a set of models for the game, but that was before GW fudged up their bits ordering. I'll wait and see about the figs, but the news that expansions will be on the way is music to mine ears.

i like the 3rd edition of the game. I didn't like the second edition at all and unfortunately the 4th edition is just like the second edition, and that bums me out.

Wait, I thought Black Industries already re-released Talisman? Am I missing something? Is this a re-release of a re-release?

Very cool. I played Talisman for the first time a couple months ago when it was first re-released. It was a good time, and it's nice to know they're releasing minis for it.
And Ozy, the information in the link is pretty clear. It's going to be a "revised" 4th edition.

Yeah, I was under the impression that the BI version had all new artwork but (sadly) only cardboard figues - so what this brand new version will look like (including the new plastic figs), I'd hate to guess - franchising and cross-licensing can get real complicated

Ozymandias, King of Kings
They did, and all 20,000 copies of it sold out ages ago. It was, for North America the 4th largest selling board game of 2007. BI had plans to do another print run with corrections for the obligatory GW proofreading/cut and pasting errors but then that whole arm of GW was canned. FFG came in for the rights to it as well and then , luckily, they were also offered the Dark Heresy and WFRP stuff as well. Seeing as these were the 2nd and 4th largest selling RPGs in North America in 2007-- Dark Heresy on strength of pre-orders alone they jumped at the chance.
The latest release did have cardboard characters but they, like the rest of the art in the game, are lovely. The retro styling worked well in the game.
I don't think there will be any license issues, as Talisman is not-currently-- "set" in any of GW's Warhammer universes, so any figures will just be archetypal Wizards, trolls etc.
