So, for my rabid fans out there...ok my own narcissistic yet insecure need to have my lists evaluated, here are two more lists to compare. The first is an Epi list, the winner of the last thread I started like this, and the new challenger, the spitter army. Thoughts, comments, critiques, and all that are most appreciated.

Epidemius List (total: 1749)

HQ: 443
Fateweaver
Epidemius

TROOP: 1026
20 x Plaguebearers
Icon

(2x) 10 x Plaguebearers
Icon

(3x) 9 x Nurglings

HEAVY: 280
(2x) Daemon Prince
Mark of Nurgle
Flies/Instrument
Gaze

PRO: Insanely hard to kill.
If/When I reach 20 kills, Nurglings are scary.

CON: Very little AT.
Super gimmicky. (Kill Epi and I lose...so bad scatter could easily end my game)

*****************
Spitter List (total: 1743)

HQ: 300
(3x) Herald of Tz
Disc/Master of Sorcery/Breath of Chaos

TROOP: 708
(3x) 7 x Plaguebearers
Icon

(2x) 7 x Nurglings

8 x Pink Horrors

ELITE: 315
(3x) 3 x Flamers

HEAVY: 420
(2x) Daemon Prince
Mark of Tz/Bolt of Tz

Daemon Prince
Mark of Nurgle/Breath of Chaos

PROS: 13 breath of chaos goodness.
3 solid units to hold objectives.
Capable of handling different army builds.

CONS: No real melee power.
Bad scatters are even more of a downer.
With 5th-ed glancing table, only 2 models have a chance of outright killing vehicles at a distance.

So, what do yall think? Any ideas to fine tune the lists? Thoughts on which is just more competitive? Praise? Scorn? Indifference?

Never attribute to malice which can rightly be explained by stupidity.

I have an Epi army and you are pretty close to what I'm doing. nurglings ARE scary - I've said this in many lists despite some naysayers. My 1500 list uses the plaguefather (he's worth it) three DP, Epi and a herald with breath.

In practice, first turn drop 3 MCs, Epi and Herald. the three breaths will kill 5 models on average first turn. drop your nurglings in last after the big stuff has killed at least 10 models. I usually go into turn 3 with 20 kills. just save plaguefather or one DP for vehicles.

I'm toying with the idea of adding a unit of screamers. It borders on blasphomy but could be a big help.

DP, 2 with wings, hide and noxious (cause wounding on 2+ with a MC rocks). 1 walker with breath (bait). they die pretty easily but you have enough to soke up firepower until assault. plaguefather has taken shots from an entire tau 1500 army turn 1 only to die on the last shot. the remaining DP more than made up for him.

Nothing but scorn and indifference.

You cannot make a competitive demon army list that can take on all comers.

Your pros in army 2 are easily mitigated by competent opponents and it isn't really a take all comers army. Tarpit the bearers and shoot/assault the rest dead.

Your "strength" in army 1 is also humorous for when you face dreadnoughts and wtf-pwned is what happens. Dreads are making a comeback in 5th edition in a big way.

Stelek, I'm not sure what your point is. If a Daemon list is screwed, period, why bother even mentioning it? That's about as useful as posting in every DH list and pointing out that the OP is using a weaksauce dex. No duh. (I don't know if it's as "duh" in the case of Daemons, but I'll take your word for it that it is.) Why not proceed from the assumption that Daemons suck--as you already do--and try and help the OP minimise the suckage?

He's all over the place with a battleforce army.

What can a veteran player do but say 'this is bad'?

What's obvious to me might not be obvious to others.

Following one chaos power = bad, unless it's Tzeentch...and then hope you don't face a gunline army or an assault army (those will kill you).

Khorne is bad by itself. Assault only.
Nurgle is bad by itself. Get-shot-alot-and-live only.
Slaanesh is bad by itself. Assault (but not a Khorne assault) and tricks only.

Mixing and matching hurts most demon lists because of the really lame 'on a 1-2 my army doesn't do what I want it to do' system, which if you've mixed and matched improperly at army design level will autolose you games when you match up incorrectly at army deployment level (your turn one).

My point is people want to make 4th edition lists for a 5th edition list designed for 5th edition--stop trying. Enjoy your fun army for what it is right now in 4th. Then make it again once 5th comes out and you see just how horrible non-Tzeentch armies are against mechanized lists. Don't feel bad if you have 2-3 Tzeentch MC, a bloodthirster, another MC or a grinder (grats spearhead) or a KOS, 2 of each demon type and some cavalry like everybody else--it's what works (barely, sometimes) as a 'balanced' list and the rest of the one power lists are either terribly good or get tabled in a couple turns because they took a knife to a gunfight.
