So, seeing as my guard have been sitting dormant on my shelves for so long, I've decided to pull them out for some small games. I liek combat patrol games as I don't have too much time for bigger games at the moment. So here is my list, pretty standard, but with lots of fire power and a bit of mobility.

Infantry Platoon

Infantry Command 70
Junior officer
heavy bolter, 2 plasmaguns

Infantry Squad 1 80
Heavy bolter, Meltagun

Infantry Squad 1 78
Heavy bolter, grenade launcher

Storm Troopers 85
6
Flamer, grenade launcher
vet sarg- power weapon

Chimera 85
Hvy bolter, multi las

398

4 heavy bolters, multi las, 2 plasmas, 1 melta, 2 grenade launchers and 1 flamer. 31 models and a chimera, I think it's fairly decent small list, that I can expand as my interest in guard grows again.

Any opinions?

The problem with combat patrol is you need to move - and sadly this list can't.
By putting a meltagun in with a heavy bolter you've set up a situation where if the heavy bolter fires (always useful ) then unless your opponent is dumb enough to park a vehicle 6" in front of your squad your melta is wasted.

Try losing the chimera (at which point your opponent has spent points on anti-tank weaponry that now has nothing to shoot). Then use the points to make a heavy weapon platoon by adding a command squad and making the 3 heavy bolters into 1 squad. Sit them in cover and let them blaze away, whilst your 2x command squads and 2x inf squads (give them cameleoline if you can spare the points by dropping the stormies) move through cover with assault/rapid fire weaponry.

Your army would then look like this:

Inf Platoon

J/O
Squad 1
Squad 2

H/W Platoon

J/O
Heavy Bolter Squad

Not got my codex with me so can't work out the exact points costs, but see what you can come up with (4x flamers in a J/O squad is well worth it btw, and hilarious if you can afford the points!

Good Luck
