In Episode 10 we plung into the realm of "who dun it?" murder with Mystery of the Abbey by Days of Wonder. We then take flight in WWII air combat with Wings of War: Dawn of War air combat. And finally the D6G team reviews some of their favorite modeling and painting techniques.

All that plus our usual segments such as "Achievements in Gaming," "Rapid Fire", "What's In the News", and the rest of our 'not to horrible' humor.

Check out episode 10 here:

I think there is something wrong with your website, it plays faster than normal, resulting in alvin and the D6 generation. Rapid Fire was really funny with that, as all I could hear were random words and somebody shouting WRONG! really loud, in a comparatively deep voice. Once you got into other parts, I realized it wasn't how you recorded it, so I realized I should listen to it on iTunes

I do recommend listening to rapid fire, I had to do it, and its shorter than normal, but I would recommend trying to fix it.

Worked fine for me. The best production values yet.

Rapid fire ruled this week. RULED!

Neg achievement for WoW! Good lord thats funny. Poor Hollywood...

Glad to see wings of war getting some much deserved airplay.

The Hollywood Minute® yet again speaks the truth.

Very fun listen this week.

Thanks for another great episode . Any chance of getting links to the WFB scenario cards and Mighty Empire rules?

Anyone interested in any of the cards or Mighty Empires stuff just send me an email at Craig@thed6generation.com, listing what, specifically, you're interested in. I've got 40K 4x4 terrain cards (which can be adjusted for 4x6), 40K mission cards (including 1 custom mission for each major race/army), WHFB terrain cards for 4x6 tables (much more to scale and easier to read), WHFB Scenario cards, and Mighty Empires Tweaked Rules for both 40K and Fantasy.

Thanks for listening! And you guys rock with your feedback!

Happy gaming!

Sorry to say this guys, buuuuut, I couldn't bring myself to finish listening to your pod cast... :(

Loved the topics and the humour and the content but one thing made it unlistenable to me and that was the sound quality. I had to hover my fingers over the volume up and down keys whilst listening to increase or decrease the volume as it was needed and that made me v. sad... *sniff*

What's up with this? At one point there is some one muffling in the background and the next, *wham!* some guys is shouting something like, "Dude!" into the microphone over the aforementioned background-muffler.... If you can sort this out then I'll be more than happy to give you guys another wizz. Thanks though.

Sorry about that ... we did have a bit of a problem with Craig's mic this go around. We're still working out what that was. We actually have more consistent quality on the episodes where Raef is NOT in the room. When he is there, our configuration is a bit weird, which causes us to move away from the mic's a bit much.

I think you'll find better sounds on shows like episode 9 or 8, so check those for examples.

I'm working on reconfiguring the 'broadcast studio' to better handle the three of us in the future. So that part should get better.

I hate you, I hate you all.

I now own, tanhauser, decent, camelot, and now wings of war despite having no one to play any of them with most of the time.

seriously, cool episode and I loved the little 40's radio style air battle in the begining.

Awesome show as allways brother, and Im sure you will get that mic thing fixed for next episode. Now that I know it was all Hollywoods fault it makes sence

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Glad you're enjoying the show.

You can follow this handy link, that will open iTunes and bring you to a review page:

https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/addUserReview?id=274816789&type=Podcast

Or you can do it manually. Here is how you leave an iTune review:

1) Launch iTunes
2) Click iTunes Store on the far left under "Store"
3) In the upper right corner of the iTunes screen you will see "Search the iTunes Store", type in "d6 generation"
4) Search results will appear with a line for our show. click the 'little grey arrow' to the right of our show name in the list.
5) A "Show summary" page will appear with our logo, and some recent reviews. Above the reviews to the right you should see a 'Write a review' link.

Whew! That's how you do it. I'm still a bit fuzzy on why the world thinks Apple makes the best computer interfaces... but there ya go.

Loved the show as usual. Raef really went off the rails this time with his subject changes. & I love it when Geekly's machine-gun questions & hilarious nicknames throw Russ & Raef off so much, all they can do is laugh.

I really like your discussion of painting tips. I think the sharing of this kine of knowledge on different methods & processes is one of the greatest benefits of the internet.

I prime white my figures & pretty much do what Craig suggested with the GW inks. But instead of inks, I thin down my regular paints enough so they flow down into the creases & only thinly cover the high parts, thereby giving "false" highlights. Then I Miracle Dip them. The Dip method is mixing Minwax Polyurathene stain 1:1 with paint thinner, & then brushing it on the figures. (Originally, it was suggested to actually dip the figures into the mix, but many people found that made the figure too dark.) The Dip again pools in the creases & not on the high parts, effectively giving the same look as blacklining. Luckily, the Dip will hide any small, recessed spots that you missed that are still white. Here's a link to initial article on the Miracle Dip:
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~beattie/dip.html

& here is another page with a good discussion of Miracle Dip, some example pictures, & comparing it to the Magic Wash method, which is similar & uses Future Floor Wax instead of the stain, but more controllable
http://15mmvsf.bagofmice.com/paint/dip.html

& here are some examples of my figures using the Dip. I've found it works really well on flesh. Any of the dark brown lines on these figure are from the dip (except for around metalic colors like the silver sunglasses & the bronze overall buckles). You can see from face of the guy with the cricket bat, the Dip deliniates the eyes, nose & mouth with doing nothing more than block painting the flesh on.

Great podcast again guys. Thanks for the shoutout, always nice to be mentioned. Loved all the painting tips, in particular I'm gonna have to try drybrushing in bleached bone after spraying black I'm alway missing little details bcause I can't distinguish them from the rest of the model.
I'd really like to hear more on the dynamic between the D6G and your spouses, I rarely have the time to model and game anymore since I moved in with my gf. I love her but she really doesn't like me playing with my little plastic men, she'll actively encourage me to play on the computer rather than do any modelling. Also I haven't been able to get her to play any game beyond Scrabble, I'm getting a little sick of it!

Thanks for another great show guys. WoW DoW sounds very interesting, may have to look into that one.
Just tried out new 4th Ed DnD too so thanks again for the review on that. It's a pretty good re-vamp and very fun to play.

Looking forward to the next show.

Well, you're in for a special treat in Episode 11.

We're also discussing future segments on how to balance your gaming life with family life, it's a regular challenge for older gamers. Of course our families and wives come first, but you still need your 'cave time.'*

Craig, do you think the models from flames of war would be a good sub for wings of war dawn of war. I know the bases are half the model, do you think you could swap the old wings of war bases on to the flames of war models.

Great episode

A good tip if your using Audacity is to use the compressor, this will even out the sound. A good walk through is here http://www.geeks.com/techtips/2006/techtips-10dec06.htm. Takes a couple of minutes, the only problem is that you have to get rid of the ocassional spikes that it leaves behind. I've used it a couple of times on your mp3's and it works well. I don't know if your master files has multiple channels, if it does you can use the normalise to bring them to the same level after using the compressor to even them out.

The last thing to do then is to amplify if it's too quiet.

Thanks, King. We do compres usually, when we remember. I think this episode's issues were much more a wiring and mic issue.

I've actually thought about using FOW models or others proxies, all you'd have to do is make a proxie stand out of plasticard, or something. I think it would work perfectly, and I've been playing around with the idea myself.

If you do it, let me know how it goes. The visual appeal of the models over the cards is pretty high, I know.

Thanks again and see ya on the flip side!
