so far all we've really come up with is its destroyed after they leave and they have a very limited armoury.

They had rules for the crew of a vehicle bailing from it in 2nd ed and Rogue Trader. Because of the nature of Rogue Trader, it might have been interesting. But I know that in 2nd ed its only real use was to prevent your opponent from gaining full victory points, which was irritating. Vehicle crew was also yet another thing that slowed down play without adding a great deal of depth to play.

For a game like Necromunda or Gorkamorka it would be not only workable, but necessary. I don't see it for 40k
